Pensions Advisory Administrator (PAU)

Job description:

The role of the Pensions Advisory Unit (PAU) team within the Trustee Services Unit (TSU) is to support active members, i.e. members who are employed by Shell and accruing benefits of the Shell Contributory Pension Fund (SCPF), the Shell Overseas Contributory Pension Fund (SOCPF) and the Shell Supplementary Pension Plan (SSPP) with queries, estimates and information relating to their pension arrangements. PAU also provides final paperwork when an employee decides to draw their pension.
The team will comprise a PAU Team Leader (currently a job-share, held by two 0.6 FTE resources based in London), one JG.6 Senior Administrator (based in London) and a JG.7 Administrator (based in Krakow).

This role is the Krakow-based Administrator, responsible for managing standard calculations and queries, and will work closely with the London-based Senior Pensions Advisory Administrator.

Dimensions:

The SCPF and SOCPF have a fund membership of approximately 6,300 active members.
The role will have accountability for providing standard estimated pension figures in line with the requirements of the Trust Deed and Regulations. This includes pension commencement lump sums up to £250,000 and pension estimates where the total capital value is less than £1,000,000.

Principal Accountabilities:
 
  • To handle non complex queries and standard retirements for SCPF and SOCPF where benefits do not exceed the lifetime allowance
  • To proactively contact all active members within 6 months of Normal Pension Age to advise of options available
  • To run CETV requests for active members and to manage scheme pays administration
  • To assist on projects such as Sharepoint, Records Management and ensure process guidance notes are kept up to date
  • To provide support to the Krakow Operations Manager and PAU Team Leader when required.
  • To authorise cases in the pensions system (Compendia) for other Pensions Administrators in Krakow
  • To assist with requesting changes within Compendia required to the Equiniti team (pension system IT support) and undertake the appropriate testing to ensure the pensions documentation and calculations provided through Compendia are kept up to date and accurate
  • To manage the AVC mailbox queries, and to ensure all AVC’s are entered and authorised in Compendia in a timely manner, including bulk exercises such as merit and bonus AVC payments
  • Manage PAU mailbox and log cases in Compendia for action
  • To support project work involving Active SCPF and SOCPF members
  • To work closely with the JG6 Senior Pensions Advisory Administrator in London to ensure consistency.
  • To provide peer review to JG6 Senior Pensions Advisory Unit Administrator and other colleagues in the wider Krakow team
  • To provide holiday/sickness cover for other Pensions Administrators in Krakow

Requirements:
  • Preferably holds a pension administration qualification i.e. QPA
  • Technical knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes and UK pensions legislation
  • Experience of processing and authorising pension calculations
  • Experience of pension administration systems, Compendia being a distinct advantage
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail are essential for this role
  • Strong controls and compliance mind-set, including data privacy
