The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of testing for the applications of key business areas.  Scope of responsibility for the test team will include functional, regression, end-to-end, and client testing, as well as conversion and implementation planning. S/he will manage the test effort for large, complex, multi-system projects or programs and follow the BBH QM policy that includes overseeing test strategy, test case creation and review, test summary reporting. Proper usage of test case management tools, defect/issue tracking, automation tools and solutions.  S/he ensures standards and quality controls are met and will help implement and oversea QM governance of projects and the creation of test summary reports and communicating and taking ownership and responsibility for software quality of his/her areas. This role also includes the management and work assignments of offshore testing team.

 

The Quality Assurance Manager works with the internal business and systems development teams to help ensure the correct business functionality, client and technology requirements, and industry standards are tested within the envisioned solution.  S/he is expected to collaborate with development to architect and design and/or enhance technical testing solutions  for complex application areas that cannot be covered just through manual/functional testing. S/he will also work with the business to coordinate and collaborate on functional and UAT testing and ensure all teams participating in the testing process have their test documented and covered in the test strategy and written and executed in our functional test case management system. S/he is responsible for the effective direction and supervision of the test team, including team performance and development, recruiting, training and work assignment scheduling.

 

Finally, this will be a hands on management role that will require either technical expertise to directly assist in testing of strategic technical projects and/or a commitment to gain SME experience of at least a couple key areas within the most important applications. The ability to lead by example and work directly with the team is key to the success of this role.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform Product analysis to understand the requirements from the perspective of completion, testability and ease of understanding
  • Perform Test results analysis post execution of testing and provide feedback on areas of improvements in code
  • Perform Defect trends analysis during and post release and provide detailed report on risks and lessons learnt
  •  Continuously perform Risk analysis during the entire lifecycle of the project and ensure all risks are understood and communicated by QA Manager
  • Responsible for providing estimates for new projects based on QA lifecycle
  • Responsible for determining QA priorities based on expertise and knowledge of the application under test
  • Assist in creating test strategy and plans for all the projects involved in using standards and methodologies defined by the organization. In smaller projects can also be responsible for creating test strategy
  • Develop system, integration and regression test cases based on test design best practices and based on experience
  • Execute test cases as per the QA plan for the project and report progress of test execution as per organization standards
  • Maintain and design test data and test environments required for execution of testing
  • Maintain and store all test cases, test strategy and all necessary documentation for testing in central repository based on organization strategy
  • Oversee testing activities of team members
  • Ability to developing both technical and subject matter QA skills and take ownership of specific areas of functional/technical QA.
  • Experience with bug tracking tools. (JIRA), writing detailed bug reports, assigning, reviewing, testing and closing out issues as they arise.
  • Demonstrate results through good organizational, communication, problem solving, multi-tasking and technical skills
  • Ability work flexible hours and remotely as needed to accommodate global development schedules
  • Report status of progress of testing through daily, weekly and other reporting mechanism to all stakeholders for the project
  •  Report defects in the defect management system and ensure the status of the defect is tracked to closure, which will involve retesting of defects that are fixed by development team
  • Managing & leading direct reports and rest of the team by establishing timely and challenging performance standards, providing ongoing feedback and conducting annual performance appraisals

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (computer science or related)
  • 8 – 10 + years of relevant work experience
  • Solid IT knowledge
  • Deep understanding of quality assurance
  • Experience with tools used in quality assurance; JIRA, Confluence, qTest, Quality Center, etc
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies
  • SQL knowledge and database understanding
  • Experience in at least one of the following: Java/.NET/C#, Web Services, XML. Automation tools, etc.
  • Background in one of the following industries; banking, stock, finance, loans, and/or investing services a plus
  • Document and resolve complex problems

  • Suggest corrective actions and contribute to process improvements
  • Drive for improvement
