RTR Manager
Workplace: Wrocław

The RTR Manager role supports the delivery of high quality, timely reporting for group, management and statutory purposes. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with external financial reporting requirements including IFRS and local tax and statutory laws & regulations.

The RTR Manager will be responsible in the first instance for setting up and then running the Smith & Nephew European RTR Finance Department in Wroclaw. This function will focus on providing the company’s European affiliates with services in RTR, financial reporting, indirect tax, and SOx controls execution. This role will also be involved in building a new finance operating model, which will include establishing global tax operating model and a robust working environment with regional/market financial controllers and RTR from an offshore location.

The initial challenge for this role will be to on-board key team members, build a working environment in support of the new finance and tax operating model and participate in defining ways of working in the areas of financial reporting, tax, and SOx controls execution. This will involve working on solution design, transition, recruitment and hiring.

primary responsibilities

  • Day to day leadership and direction of the finance team of 20 experienced accountants and tax analysts;
  • Delivering high end financial services that serves the Company customers and ensuring;
  • Delivering performance that meets or exceeds service level agreements;
  • Cooperating with finical controllers with a view to ensuring the highest accounting and tax standards are applied to financial statements and tax declarations;
  • Supporting the GBS Finance & Accounting and Centre Leaders in establishing a robust ongoing RTR services;
  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives e.g. process standardisation and business efficiencies, with the aim to lower cost, improve service and reduce compliance risk;
  • Supervise the Reporting Accountants and completion of annual objective / appraisal performance process;
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the transactional accounting teams;
  • Manage the requests from external and internal auditors, other advisors and relevant country Authorities;
  • In combination with the Finance Controller,  monitor, assess and implement changes to comply with external reporting and accounting requirements;
  • Assess and implement changes to comply with internal changes to the business or S&N accounting environment.

  • Management experience in large multi-national organization & proven energetic, supportive & non-hierarchical leadership style/ capability to lead a Record to Report (RTR) area;
  • Experience of building a team and creating a culture of continuous improvement;
  • Experience of ramping up a team’s capacity and capability through hiring, repurposing, continuous professional development and training;
  • Great team builder that leads through example and a hands on engagement style;
  • Relentless focus on completing scheduled services on time and to customer SLA's;
  • High-value personal qualities & values - critical thinking and problem solving skills, work in teams, resourceful, responsible, tenacious, independent, self-confident, and high-energy;
  • Detailed and accurate, able to manage a team to metrics, targets and KPI's;
  • Project Management experience, including playing a leadership role in delivering success projects;
  • Ability/experience of building finance process/tools (experience in process improvements; system implementations and transferring of processes);
  • Good understanding of finance process systems to set up business services center;
  • Able to assess financial systems requirements and provide recommendations;
  • Experience in international business (finance) environment – prior experience gained within a large multi-national company (MNC);
  • Experience of Automation, Robotics and AI an advantage;
  • Strong Influencing and Inter-personal skills;
  • SAP Experience preferred.

qualifications

  • Relevant accounting experience (8+ years of experience); professional finance qualification preferred (e.g. CIMA, ACCA)
  • Very good business English, including strong accounting/finance/business vocabulary
  • Experience in leading a transformation program in Business Services Centres, preferably Finance/Accountancy/Banking/Economy
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement preferred ideally in Finance/Accounting/Economy/Banking
