Job description:

Job Purpose:

The role sits in the Enterprise Performance Management team in Finance Operations. The role is responsible for the successful delivery of Anaplan connected planning solutions across all Shell Businesses (i.e. Downstream, Upstream, Integrated Gas, Global Functions and Projects & Technologies). The role will be responsible for developing a competent pool of Anaplan modelers.
Anaplan is a SaaS (Software as a Solution), cloud-based tool that is part of a new generation of tools that is not customizable; only configurable.

The portfolio of Anaplan use cases in Shell is growing fast, providing an exciting (development) opportunity to significantly improve user experience and processes (i.e. Business and Finance processes).

 
Principal Accountabilities:

  • Design best practice (modelling) standards by producing template toolkits for key use case functionalities

  • Drive use of best practice standards across the use cases of Anaplan

  • Provide Technical leadership to large Anaplan implementations and/or changes following the Anaplan “design standards and principles” (coordinate and advise multiple smaller Anaplan model implementations running consecutively)

  • Competency development of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Anaplan model builder community across Shell on design principles, modelling best practice and latest functionality changes in Anaplan

  • Develop model documentation standards and implement across use cases,

  • Participate in data integration and migration solutions

  • Continuously stay appraised of latest functionality improvements in Anaplan and regularly connect with other Anaplan customers to understand best practices within other companies

  • Be the “source” for answers and advice on Anaplan modelling challenges, working closely with key stakeholder in Business, IT and Finance.

 

Requirements: 
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
 
Essential:

  • Degree in Finance/Economics/IT or similar

  • Requires a special combination of Finance and Business skills/understanding along with an affinity and aptitude for data, systems and reporting

  • Stakeholder management at mastery level

  • Willingness to develop Anaplan modelling skills via fast track learning program

  • Self-starter and ability to work independently with little supervision

  • Strong delivery mindset

  • Results focused

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) and effective in communicating

  • The candidate must be flexible/resilient and is able to manage ambiguity

  • Willingness to occasionally travel for prolonged periods

  • Experience with working with other cultures/nationalities would be an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with personal confidence to quickly build credibility

 
Nice to have:

  • Literacy in statistics / visualization tools

  • Understanding of Oil & Gas Industry
