The Global Delivery Business Control team (BCT) is a key part of the 1st Line of Defence framework for Global Delivery business Delivery, worldwide, within State Street. This team is divided into Transversal Disciplines which serve all functions of the Division, Product, Global Process Delivery, Client Delivery Management, and Business Transformation/Hubs. The role will report into the Policy and Regulatory Discipline (P&R), which has responsibility for direct engagement with Compliance on all new regulations which have been determined to impact Global Delivery and providing a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) on said regulations. In addition, P&R  determines Policy applicability for the Division and ensures appropriate controls in place.  The team also works closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, other BU Risk teams, Internal Audit and others to implement a sound risk management framework.
The successful candidate will have a functional reporting line report to the Global Delivery EMEA Regional Lead based in Edinburgh, with a local reporting line to the Head of Business Controls in Poland.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop a robust understanding of business strategy, critical success factors, risk profile and potential exposures.
  • Assist in performing Business Impact Analysis work based on understanding of new regulations and knowledge of the product/services and business of the division.
  • May conduct independent risk assessment analysis and holistic end-to-end process reviews.
  • May Independently identify and assess issues and work with Operational management and Compliance teams to track them to resolution
  • May act as a liaison with other key internal control groups such as ERM, Compliance and Audit on risk related issues.
  • May act as a liaison with senior management, other internal departments, Regulators and other external parties as required.
  • Serve as a first line of defense (FloD) subject matter expert, building relationships with key business stakeholders and providing ongoing direction and consultative advice to the Business with respect to risk management policies, guidelines, and best practice.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to think strategically and assist with the design and implementation of a risk framework and governance structure within Global Delivery.
  • Project management skills and process-based thinking is strongly desired
  • 5+ years of experience, within financial services, ideally from a compliance, risk, audit or accounting background is required
  • Working/ Advanced level knowledge and understanding  of the UK Regulatory environment would be beneficial
  • Basic/Working knowledge and understanding of the EMEA regulatory environment would be beneficial
  • Working/ Advanced level knowledge and understand of the custody and  fund administration industry would be beneficial
  • Experience in process and controls mapping methodologies is desirable
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to interact effectively across all levels of management within Global Ops and throughout the organization.
  • Must be data driven with an analytical and inquisitive mindset
  • Ability to effectively assess and determine acceptable levels of risk within a service or process. Ability to make assessments and recommendations on effective risk mitigation.
  • Self-motivated individual, who enjoys undertaking challenges, can assimilate information quickly and outline action plans and recommendations in a complex and changing environment
  • Strong influencing skills
