Job description:

You will guide Directors and Shell Shareholder representatives of the Operational (TJV) and Marketing Joint Ventures (MJV) in Shell Aviation Assurance and HSE agenda to compliant operated Joint Ventures tools, processes, best practices and competence development to ensure that fit for purpose business controls and governance are in place to meet relevant objectives in accordance with group guidelines policies
Growing, guiding Shell JV Directors and Shareholder Representatives, lead planning and appraisal process to deliver most competitive portfolio


Principal Accountabilities

 

  • In conjunction with HSE and Directors, determine appropriate annual targets for leading and lagging HSE KPIs, track performance against the targets and provide advice and support to close gaps. 

  • Co-ordinate significant incident reviews

  • Monitor status of non-conformances at the JVs and compliance/audit outcomes and identify where focus is needed to close gaps.

  • Ensure processes in place to support JV compliance with Core Principles.

  • Develop the annual global JV governance plan, monitoring and track its implementation and provide toolkits to support the Directors with implementation.

  • Review quarterly and trend analysis of JV income, costs and cost recovery performance and support the Directors

  • Deliver the JV annual value plan, including appropriate benchmarking of management fees

  • Develop and drive active portfolio view on JVs, identifying timely key strategy projects and resource appropriately to drive best outcome for Shell as well JV

  • Establish and deliver a competence development programme to close competence gaps around value and governance for directors.

  • Own the competence profiles for JV Directors including HSE, business and finance competences

  • This role will be the Trade Controls Focal point for Shell Aviation, accountabilities being:

    • Co-ordination of Control Framework implementation specifically tracking the implementation/mitigation plan execution

    • Act as primary focal point for clearance of potential hits resulting from sanctioned party screening

    • Collect and report information on transactions with sanctioned and sensitive countries for quarterly internal and annual external reporting.

    • Ensure compliance controls are followed, approved and documented as appropriate. Co-ordinate information gathering resulting from the implementation of the compliance program (e.g. military end customers, export licenses in place, controlled items list)

 

Requirements:

  • Legal, business or Finance degree

  • Experience as a Director in a Commercial or Operational JV (Trading & Supply, Manufacturing)

  • Sound understanding of HSE and governance/assurance processes,

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, robust understanding of operations and risks in a business and value/dependency of fuel supply chains

  • Understanding of Trade Controls would be helpful

  • Stakeholder engagement skills including management of constructive relationships with JV partners

  • Proven ability to create and manage effective alliances with wide range of stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of financial fundamentals to analyse, review and make informed recommendations (ie. balance sheet, P&L, cashflow statements, valuation)

  • English min. C1
