Overview

The BNY Mellon Trade Operations department delivers world-class service to its clients through state of the art back-end system support, global trade expertise and innovative management of the cost-efficient processing of letters of credit, documentary collections, open account transactions, bank to bank reimbursements and other trade products.

The Trade Operations team in Wroclaw is responsible, among other things, for the accurate processing of letters of credit, the examination of document presented under letters of credit, and timely payments to effect letter of credit settlement. The team is also responsible for resolving any client issues as well as maintaining professional communication with relevant stakeholders.

The Trade Operations Manager is responsible for:

  • managing a section of Trade Specialists and Trade Operations Supervisor
  • producing the highest level of quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Oversees Processing to ensure transactions are handled correctly and timely.
  • Utilizes MIS reporting to ensure correct and timely processing.
  • maintaining tight controls through adherence to policies and procedures
  • implementing effective programs to improve the quality and timeliness of services while reducing costs is expected
  • Assist Product and Relationship team for client based solution and strategic business case. Design and provide the technical trainings and create process guide and manuals for the process
  • Recruits, directs, motivates, and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional development and ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. planning and implementing procedures and policies and ensuring the compliance thereof
  • Continually expanding his/her knowledge of BNY Mellon products and stay current on industry developments
  • Provides input into departmental budgets and planning.  May develop business plan for team/group operations.
  • Internationally acceredited certification like CDCS/CITF/CSDG preferred

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master degree within finance, accountancy or similar
  • Knowledge of basic to intermediate principals of accounting, (understanding of debits and credits) is required along with working knowledge of international rules like UCPDC, URC, URR among other trade related guidelines.
  • 10 years of experience preferable in Trade finance operations
  • 1-2 years of being in supervisory level role is minimum with 2 years preferred
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Strong communication skills (Oral/Written) 
  • Good analytical and organizational skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and team work skills
  • Experience in establishing and working with procedures
