Job description:

Shell Trading & Supply has a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, LNG, chemicals natural gas, electrical power and CO2. Trading offices are located in the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Barbados, Dubai and Russia, with many other downstream entities situated across the globe.


Traders buy and sell oil resulting in oil movements, Commercial Operators are facilitating the planning and execution of these deals. Any deviations from the original plans may result in Claims. These claims are part of the responsibility of the Global Operations Commercial Services (GOCS) team. GOCS consists of six different teams managing a diverse set of activities supporting Trading and Supply. The demurrage team, part of GOCS, support: advice, and services to front line trading staff to help them with the day to day deal making process; management of demurrage, post deal expense and claims related to quality and quantity.

The Demurrage Team Lead (TL) drives the focus in the team of demurrage analysts, post deal expense analysts and claims analysts. The TL controls the processes and drives excellence in the team. Inquiring and strong analytical skills to understand the processes, focus on commerciality and developing people are critical skills to be successful as a Demurrage TL.

Accountabilities

The team leader will lead by example and be accountable for the teams’ collective responsibilities including the drive for continuous improvement of team and processes. By working closely with Commercial Operations, Trading, Supply and Manufacturing teams the team lead will drive operational excellence, identify profit leakage and implement remedies. The team leader is a natural hands-on leader that drives performance, planning, processes and develops people along the way. Other accountabilities are;
  • Create weekly/monthly reports controlling the ways of working
  • Manage all communications and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for training and team development
  • Proactively ensure teams safety, compliance and audit readiness
  • Support global manager sustaining & improving global alignment
  • Gather and build case for legal proceedings

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to coach and develop
  • The ability to read and interpret legal language
  • Experience in the industry is an advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree (previous work experience will be taken into consideration for any candidates who might not meet the educational standard)
