Accounts Payable Operations Manager
Work location: Kraków

Job description:

Purpose:
To lead a community of up to 60 staff in the delivery of the Accounts Payable (AP) process for Shell entities in the Downstream business.

Financial dimension:  Invoice value of approx $65 billion per annum
Business dimension: In excess of 2 million invoices per year on behalf of 40 operating companies.

 

ERP: Main ERP GSAP and several legacy ERPs.
Subordinates:  6 direct reports, up to 60 indirect reports located in both Krakow and Manila.


Principal Accountabilities:
  • Inspire the AP Community in Downstream to deliver Accounts Payable process for all Shell Downstream entities. This includes invoice processing and invoice resolution through to payment, controls and account reconciliations.  
  • Support implementation of major projects in the DS space, incl. ARIBA and migrations. Effectively manage associated change both internally (staff) and externally (stakeholders, incl. Business, CP and local Finance).
  • Understand the operational and financial implications of Requisition to Pay (RtP) -related issues with the aim of finding process-driven, systems-oriented solutions
  • Developing and sustaining a culture of understanding of the RtP end-to-end process and collaboration across boundaries to achieve Shell Group goals;
  • Ensure internal controls that support the control environment are designed and operated effectively and that the team understand the criticality of the same;
     
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with business partners that deliver value for the organisation;
  • Ensure a robust Business Continuity Plan and execution capabilities are in place at all times for the delivery of operations; and
  • Support and promote Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) mindset and culture

Special Challenges:

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or  Business Administration with recognized accounting qualifications (e.g. CPA, CIMA, etc.)

  2. At least 8 years relevant Finance or Accounting experience with at least 3 years experience in managing a team.

  3. Strong finance and accounting knowledge, as well as  analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  4. Superior leadership and organization skills.

  5. Able to operate successfully in a multi cultural environment with constant exposure to virtual communication and virtual management/delivery through others, incl. parties outside of direct reporting lines
