Manager Data Science

As a Manager in our Data Analytics team you will be responsible for creating ideas for new products, designing them and overseeing creation of prototypes.
As our consultant, you will have a unique opportunity to design and implement tools and IT systems that help our clients achieve their business goals and do something extraordinary that would be out of their reach without your help. You will work intimately with the clients throughout whole project life cycle, since planning, over analysis, implementation, till install phase.
We will together make the most innovative products that are data driven – and our client’s really want to buy. It’s a hard task, since we are dealing with quite complicated business matters. As far as corporation goes, this is the most startup role in such a big company you have ever dreamed of. The team is amazing – smart and dedicated people.
 
Role

• As a project team leader in cross-disciplinary team of experts, you will be responsible for the development of IT solution for PwC clients, through the implementation of statistical data modeling, programming IT systems and reporting.
• You will support clients in in-depth understanding of the key-drivers for their current and future success and solving the strategic and operational problems.
• Appling your expertise in quantitative business analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers.
• We expect you to really understand the business problem you are facing during the project and what is the client struggling with – and be able to provide sound advice on how to implement the change.
• During the project, you will instantly communicate with clients, therefore effective and professional communication is essential.
• As part of Data Analytics management team – contribute to our internal stack – either with productivity tools (and their setup), or tech stack, or maybe algo stack.

 
Candidate’s profile
 

• MSc/PhD in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Economics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of delivering and minimum 1 year of managing Data Science projects.
• In-depth understanding of the intricate workings of the most commonly used Statistical and Machine Learning models as well as their respective strengths and weaknesses.
• Ability to solve Data Science problems from designing the solution (Data Mining/Machine Learning/Statistics) through pipeline implementation (R/Python/SQL) to the visualization of results (Shiny/Tableau/PowerBI).
• Experience in (at least) one of the following industries: Finance, Telco, Retail/FMCG.
• Very good command of spoken and written English.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills - essential in day-to-day cooperation with clients as well as multi-national teams.
• Ability to grow and develop other team members.
• You also need to be ready to be challenged by our employees technically and managerially - we pick only really smart people and they will only follow a leader who inspires them.

 
Additional assets will be:

• Big Data Ecosystem: Hadoop (HDFS/YARN/MapReduce), Spark (PySpark/MLlib/GraphX), Hive/Presto/Impala.
• Hadoop distributions (major): Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR.
• Cloud Computing: Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure.
• Deep Learning on (multiple) GPUs: Keras, TensorFlow, Theano.
• Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SSIS, query optimization, R Services).
• Building software in agile environments (startups/software houses).
• Active Kaggle and/or GitHub profiles (active contributions to FOSS a major plus).
