The Application Performance Monitor (APM) Engineer will monitor alerts collect metrics of application performance. Work closely with application support and development team to maintained measurable application performance for both internal and customer facing applications. The APM Engineer will use the metrics to increase the overall quality and experience of our application. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual with cross functional knowledge in software development and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Main responsibility is for the configuration and operation of DynaTrace as applied to business application performance enhancements and infrastructure support.
- Secondary responsibility is configuration and operations monitoring tools (from vendors such as DynaTrace/Compuware)
- As part of the team performs configuration and infrastructure support of monitoring tools
- Configures monitoring/alerting/reporting for availability performance & capacity management
- Performs installation and upgrade of Dynatrace and other monitoring tools
- Works closely with application development teams during release rollout to analyze application performance impact and troubleshoot issues
- Makes technical recommendations on application performance improvement initiatives and other monitoring
- Work closely with the administration delivery and operations specialists to ensure proper tuning and operation of the systems
- Collaborating with Development and support teams to resolve performance related issues.
- Work closely with the administration delivery and operations specialists to ensure proper tuning and operation of the systems
- Experience with Profiling of application for memory performance code coverage using tools like JProbe JProfiler etc.
- Experience with application monitoring tools such as Wily DynaTrace
- Application Server experience with WebSphere Tomcat
- Experience with Web Services including SOAP
- Experience with JDBC transaction management concurrency JDBC exceptions
- Strong SQL skill to write/rewrite existing queries for better performance
- Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree (Computer Science/Engineering/Math)
- 7-10 years of experience working with Java/J2EE
