Regional Finance Analyst

Job description:
Overview 

This role is part of the Finance operations team in Krakow providing finance support to the Europe and MENA regional exploration teams. The Regional Finance Analyst will be part of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring that decision makers in the regions are equipped to understand how their decisions impact cash, cost and value generation, as well as supporting the regions to operate within a sound control framework. The role holder will be working closely with functional stakeholders to achieve this goal, needing to understand their issues, constructively challenge their inputs and together deliver high quality, timely submissions.

The role holder needs to be able to handle a wide range of deliverables to senior leaders in the organisation including timely delivery of business reporting cycles, providing clear and articulate commentary regarding the underlying business results, insightful appraisal analysis and delivery of key inputs into the Business Plan.

Accountibilities
 

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly latest estimate covering Exploration Expenditure, Contingent Resources & Exposures. Focus specifically on overhead categories and benchmarking using central MI data.
  • Present LE summary to regional Exploration Leadership Team and discuss key actions to address deviations from plan, subsequently monitor progress against key actions agreed.
  • Upload monthly Latest estimate into central Exploration finance system
  • Monitor Expex spend against Investment proposals and plans (actuals, latest estimates and exposures)
  • Prepare monthly regional performance packs, which capture latest estimate and portfolio updates, review with Regional Finance Manager before distribution to Exploration Leadership Team
  • Contribute to Expex budget process through robust analysis and challenge of venture submissions
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet review, lead the review process with VP Finance and Regional Finance manager.
  • Provide monthly input into Business Assurance process, assist Regional Finance Manager in preparation for quarterly Business Assurance Committee meeting.
  • Agree with all regional ventures on timewriting, set up of coding & manage access to timewriting tool. Monitor spend and follow up with individuals in case of insufficient timewriting. Perform timewriting (fixed key) for Regional staff.
  • Act as regional focal point for all relevant business transformation projects, providing regional perspective & challenge to ensure fit for purpose solutions. Support successful implementations.
  • Financial Analysis: Regularly monitor variable overheads, ensure compliance with Shell policies and act promptly to close out potential savings.

Requirements:

 

  • University degree in a finance related discipline and a professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA/MBA)
  • Solid business/finance understanding with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Commercial acumen and strong business partnering focus.
  • Excellent communication skills, clarity of thought and ability to translate complex raw data into simple, powerful and easy to communicate key messages & insights
  • Self-starter with a track record of performance and proven ability to deliver quality results under significant time pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of ERP (SAP preferable)
  • Strong interpersonal & leadership skills with personal confidence to quickly build credibility, respect and rapport;
  • Proven demonstration of change management behaviours: e.g. building relationships, influencing course of action, flexible thinking, self-starter,
  • Evidence of external focus and understanding of the energy industry, competitors, suppliers and markets is helpful
