Job description:
Job Purpose:-

  • Understand the complexities and intricacies of the preventive and corrective maintenance activities and Prepare comprehensive work packs for preventive/corrective maintenance of heavy duty rotating equipment like engines, compressors, pumps, turbines etc., by studying the operations and maintenance manuals of OEMs, general task lists, equipment specific task lists, overhaul reports, maintenance reports, spare part list,  preventive maintenance strategies etc., and technical discussions with global, site maintenance leads/technical authorities & OEMs/Vendors  etc.,
  • Understand the machinery constructions and maintenance methods such as proactive / preventive / corrective maintenance being followed in operating units and assist them in making changes and improve readiness of maintenance with sufficient time before maintenance activities begin.
  • Prepare the detailed equipment specific task list/work packs for preventive/corrective maintenance of static equipment viz. vessels, columns, heat exchangers, safety valves, etc.,
  • Enable the assigned operating units, and it’s on site employees in producing and compiling high value maintenance information and data, as measured by improvement trends in data quality.
  • Analyze technical data and documents and processes for Upstream businesses by working with engineering, maintenance, operations and project teams & partners of respective OUs.

Principal Accountabilities:-

  • Primary responsibility in preparing/developing comprehensive workpacks from overhaul reports, maintenance reports, general tasklist, equipment specific task lists, spare part list, equipments drawings, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, operation and maintenance manuals of OEMs etc., for heavy duty rotary equipments like engines, pumps, compressors, turbines etc., & maintenance of static equipment like pressure vessels, heat exchangers etc., for Upstream operating units as per Shell Standards. 
  • These work packs include detailed description of the tasks that need to be performed for overhauling / maintenance of each machine, parts required, tools required, time required and relationship between tasks including the pre-work preperation steps. 
  • Create the Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasklists and general task lists based on the maintenance strategy and link it with maintenance plans and items. 
  • Customize the equipment make and model specific workpacks  into site specific workpack by adding site conditions and parameters. 
  • Accommodate the PM library changes by converting the turnaround documents to the global workpacks. 
  • Constantly engage with site maintenance leads, original equipment manufacturers, vendors and modify the workpacks as recommended/required by the site maintenance personnels.  
  • Anticipate & plan for mandatory spares, tools and tackles and manpower required for the heavy duty equipments based on the information extracted from maintenance manuals, collate any additional information about equipment(rotating/static) & its spares , if required from the vendors and accommodate the information in the workpack. 
  • Interact and communicate with the site focals for Preventive Maintenance Libraries and maintenance strategies, understanding the intricacies about how the actual maintenance activities for heavy duty rotating equipments and other machinery  have been planned and performed in various Upstream Operating Units of Shell.  
  • Understanding  the functions of the various equipments and instruments and also thorough knowledge of reading/ interpreting the engineering drawings (P&IDs, PEFS, PFDs).
  • Network with counterparts and other levels of organization across the different operating units, data centers and develop external networks outside of FOD and Shell.

  • Engagement across different levels of stakeholders, including senior management for day to day operations. Includes initiative to identify and help resolve business and  technical issues within areas of responsibility.  
  • Sound understanding of business/process workflow and having mature mindset to deal and behave under tough/challenging situations. 
  • Strong proficiency in using English for both spoken and written communication, as well as using Skype for Buisness, Instant Messaging, Video Conferencing, Outlook, etc. 
  • Shift work following operating hours of the upstream production sites,
  • Resilient under pressure and able to work with  people different culture and working style. 
  • Willing to travel to various operating units/sites across the globe as per requirements. 
  • A self-starter leader and reliable deliverer, with very good verbal and written skills in English, able to negotiate with people, and able to resist undue influence that might otherwise compromise integrity of data quality. 
  • Exposes the individual to all cultural backgrounds and organisational levels, across diverse time zones.
  • Sound understanding of business/process workflow and having mature mindset to deal and behave under tough/challenging situations.

Requirements:


Education/Experience:
 
Mandatory Requirements:-
 

  1. University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  2. Minimum 2 to 3 plus years of overall working experience in in Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals/ Heavy Industries/Power Plants or any equivalent industry past degree in engineering in one or more of following areas:-
  •  Installation & commissioning/operations and maintenance/design, engineering & selection of heavy rotating equipment like turbines, engines, compressors, centrifugal pumps etc., & maintenance of static equipment like columns, safety valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers etc.
  • Experience is preparing the maintenance work instructions, task lists, work packs, work and manpower estimation for major maintenance/overhauling of the rotary/static equipment.
  • Design, maintenance, performance monitoring, troubleshooting experience and Knowledge of rotating machines such as centrifugal compressor, gas turbine, steam turbine, centrifugal pump, reciprocating compressor, screw compressor, positive displacement pump, Induced/Forced draught fan, cooler fan and blower.

 
Preferable/Desirables:-
 
Experience in Technical Data and Documents management including processes and tools. For example, experience in SAP PM module implementation, skill in MS Office tools like Excel and Access etc.
 
Proficiency in working with AutoCAD etc., shall be an added advantage.
 
Knowledge of SAP PM is preferable.
 
Effective communication skill and stakeholder management is a necessary skill for the job.
 
Knowledge of Lean CI methodology is an added value.
 
Able to multi-task, prioritize and ensure delivery of priorities as promised, work without close supervision, and work through others to deliver results.
 
Virtual working experience is highly desirable.
 
Professional Engineering certification is an added value.
