The Role

The role sits within our European Hedge Accounting Practice with offices in London and Krakow, which forms part of our global 50-member team of qualified chartered accountants that focus exclusively on providing hedge accounting services to clients. The role is comprised of highly quantitative and technical accounting work and frequent consulting with clients at the highest levels of accounting and finance in their organisations.  Individuals in this role have strong accounting skills and an interest in technical accounting (IFRS 9/IAS 39/ IFRS 13).  Members of this team spend time advising clients on the most suitable hedging strategies, running and analysing effectiveness tests, drafting hedge designation memos, creating inputs for future journal entries and running and reviewing monthly hedge accounting reports for clients using ChathamDirect, our online portal.  They develop an excellent understanding not only of the accounting but also of the underlying economics of interest rate, foreign exchange and commodities hedging, interacting daily with Chatham’s traders.  The consultants are responsible for all relationships with the clients in their assigned portfolio, directly communicating with CFOs or Heads of Treasury, but there is constant collaboration and peer review prior to sending deliverables to clients.

Requirements

We are looking to expand our team by hiring a selected individual who will thrive in our culture and make a significant impact over the long term.  We have found that people with the following experience will thrive in this role: 

• A qualified chartered accountant
• 1-3 years (or more) of post-qualified experience in financial reporting, auditing or technical accounting advisory
• Good working knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9
• A basic understanding of derivative financial instruments
• Experience in treasury or accounting systems and strong Excel skills
• Good analytical and numerical skills
• Ability to articulate themselves well in front of a variety of different stakeholders
• Passionate about helping clients
