Job description:

MI focal point shall play a role in business content analysis, FYLE preparation, differences TGT vs actual analysis.

 

Apart of focus on actuals submission on monthly and Q basis, preparing quantities input into Report 1, price calculation MI focal point in Norway team shall be involved in planning and appraisal activities conducted by Connect and Onshore teams. Close collaboration with reporting, finance in the business team is required.

MI focal point is the first contact for all queries from Group Business Performance & Reporting (BPR) team in regards to actuals dynamic analysis and changes in comparison to target numbers. He/she addresses queries to the extent of own knowledge, involve other stakeholders and get input required.

There are sets of existing standard monthly analysis inquiries, which may change over the time, from Group MI to be addressed by the role:

-total costs;

-capex;

-CSD per categories;

-NIBIAT

 

 Key area of focus with the most value added for Shell is Full Year Latest Estimates Process. MI submitter shall not only submit data in BPC, work out validations errors, address technical issues with ROST during submission, but drive process of estimating FYLE figures, operate the model and propose business assumptions. BPC submitter collaborates closely with Connect, planning team and plays crucial role in local MI analysis.

Main KPIs to prepare input schedule for

-net sales proceeds,

-other revenue,

-depreciation,

-interest income,

-current taxation,

-payable taxation,

-working capital,

-sales volumes, realized LE sale prices per product

Based on mentioned above categories MI submitter provides full year estimates on NIBIAT, NIAT, CFFO, CSD.

Along with numbers all detailed variances analyses Quarterly DVA (vs target) on NIBIAT, CFFO, and Working Capital are explained and provided to the Group by MI submitter.

Work is based on knowledge of several asset/business analysts however, final data needs to be consolidated, commentaries filtered, sorted to appropriate buckets, and submitted.

There is internal MI analysis process in Norske Shell. It is done in Full Year Latest Estimates format but on monthly bases. All key KPIs and DVAs vs target on NIBIAT, CFFO, Working Capital are prepared, discussed with controller, local planning and appraisal team and fed to UK Finance Leadership Team presentation and to VP by MI focal point. The requirements to MI submitter who contributes to the process are demanding. Not only technical system knowledge is needed, but big exposure in business content and specific to be able to prepare quality data.

 

MI focal point shall act proactively in case of any system issues, adapt to the changes initiated by Shell group, think of improvements in the existing process and implement it to deliver future effectiveness.

All changes in the process, new ways of workings shall be documented to the extent it is possible and store on the share point to ensure information is preserved.

MI Submitter shall operate relevant SOX controls properly and on time manner, participate in external and internal audits, contribute to its successful outcome.

 

The role description is not exclusive, just core activity identified. There might be additional tasks, ad hog requests coming in and changes in the activity which are part of the role. 

Requirements:

Must be part qualified accountant, or qualified by experience with at least 5 years of experience in Finance

Thorough understanding of financial and management accounting.

Extensive understanding of UK & US GAAP and IFRS accounting Standards and reporting requirements.

Analytical, systems/process and accounting skills, with the ability to recognize underlying issues and develop appropriate resolutions

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Continous Improvement mind set
