Job description:
PURPOSE
The position entails providing direct supervision to the team, organizing and coordinating workload and acting as a point of contact for any escalated issues as needed. The Team Manager is responsible for reporting and analyzing team performance and address operational issues to ensure that all metrics and processes are achieved. The role is also responsible in managing various personnel functions including but not limited to team resourcing, training, performance appraisals and manage underperformance if there is any.
The Team Manager should also be able to identify process improvements or control gaps and resolutions. Participation in major change programs such as implementation and process standardization is also required. To provide first line supervision and leadership for a team size of 8 - 11 staff handling fixed assets, GL accounting, month end closing, reporting and analysis.
The Team Manager covers the planning and organization of the team's work, to engage and enable team members to execute work efficiently
and effectively, and to establish and maintain interfaces with key stakeholders from onshore/FiB counterparts and others.
 
People
Act as a coach supporting people development.
Ensure learning opportunities for each team member.
Align team & individual objectives to achieve company’s goals.
Review and assess performance of team members.
Support and motivate the team, act as a point of referral on all personal and performance issues, ensuring prompt and professional resolution. Participate in recruitment processes.
Ensure staff members are recognized and rewarded for their accomplishments as appropriate.
Ensure that all Shell policies and procedures are followed.
 
Controls and Compliance
Develop, maintain and operate a control framework that ensures effective and robust control over all team activities, covering proper  egregation of duties.
Ensure audit points are followed through to timely completion with adequate control framework to prevent reView occurrence; ensure knowledge is shared across team.
Ensure team compliance with all internal governance and procedures as defined, e.g. communication schedule, change control process, work policies & procedures.
 
 
Process
Manage the period/quarter/year end processes and deliver all required activities accurate and timely.
Review of financial statements
Cooperate with various stakeholders (from FO, Global Reporting and Analysis Teams, Group Reporting, Business Partners and Auditors).
Effectively and promptly identifying and resolving problems during month end close as a key to meeting closing deadlines.
Candidate must possess the ability to work on different tasks concurrently, often with tight deadlines.
Set right priorities regarding multiple work and demands.
Participate in both internal SBO and Shell Group projects as required.
Ensure delivery of training in the area of expertise and proper execution of handover procedure within team

Requirements:

Graduate and Professional Qualification/Final Stage (ACCA/CIMA/CA) Accountant with 3 to 4 years of post-qualification experience or can demonstrate qualification through experience.Experience of ERP systems, Microsoft Excel and business intelligence tools is a must.Good Communication skills and experience of stakeholder engagement.Experience of working in a virtual environment is preferred.
