Job Description
  • Commercial Insight and Analysis
  • Lead commercial analyses on ad sales questions across markets, to improve understanding, identify opportunities and feed into broader strategic questions
  • Responsible for development of standard SMT reporting with pacing and ad sales KPIs
  • Generate insights on current ad sales questions, opportunities and challenges
  • Manage ad hoc strategic and commercial financial requests i.e. preparing business plans, financial models and scenario analysis for situations including: potential new channel launches or M&A
  • Research and analyse market, client and buying trends that shape the external media marketplace and understand their relevance to Discovery
  • Preparation of Materials and Communications
  • Craft concise, insightful materials to communicate key facts, stories and results to a senior management and regional market audience
  • Develop presentations for senior management meetings
  • Build next generation of reporting on regular analysis
  • Determine forums to share information on a regular basis
  • Contribute to and lead creation of deliverables, including reports, presentations and other outputs to document and communicate findings
  • Ad hoc Operational and Commercial Projects
  • Assist the business partners, central and regional teams with ad sales related projects
  • Collaborate across boundaries, share best practice working with different teams
  • Gain comprehensive understanding of different ad markets in each region
  • Establish helpful productive relationships with key contacts in London and across the regions to encourage the flow of information and share knowledge
The Successful Applicant
  • 8+ year's experience preferably in Commercial Finance or FP&A finance functions
  • Have excellent academic qualifications with a degree in a numeric or business related subject
  • Have knowledge of ad sales markets and some comprehension of key metrics such as sell out, pricing, ratings and share
  • Be able to meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure while showing excellent attention to detail
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with proven record of effectively presenting to both senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with proven ability to distil complex findings into a 'story' with actionable findings to support commercial decision making
  • Show MS Excel skills to an advanced level
  • Some experience working in media, consultancy or finance
