Job description:
Purpose
This position will provide Finance Planning & Appraisal support to the UK Wells Operated and is integral part of the Wells business team. The UK Wells business delivers new Well Engineering projects, Well interventions to create or maintain value from incremental production across our existing portfolio and Plug and Abandonment activities to ensure Wells are abandoned safely whilst maximising value in execution.
The UK portfolio is unique with projects and assets at every stage of the asset/facility lifecycle from exploration through to ultra-late life and abandonment. This role will be an active virtual business partner from Finance Operations Krakow that will co-own the Global Well Delivery Process delivering credible opportunities, competitive delivery and affordable execution.
Accountabilities
Strategy, Planning, Appraisal and Reporting
Support the country business planning, target setting, budgeting and appraisal processes for all UK Wells activities.
Coordinate and manage Wells country Latest Estimates (LE) and project LEs during project development. Ensure that any assumed performance improvements are credible, and that the project plan honours critical constraints identified in integrated activity plans.
Provide transparency on Well execution progress against promises for new Wells and Well abandonment activities.
Provide financial insight to management in Rig sequencing process to drive optimal value including management of change.
Coordinate and manage Quarterly Performance Appraisals for Wells General Manager. Provide financial insight for a quarterly appraisal, gather and consolidate performance updates from respective leads concerning i.e. HSE, Well Interventions, Materials Management.
Provide early warning via Risks and Opportunity statement in quarterly performance appraisal process.
Report Wells LEs and variance vs business plan to Shell Projects and Upstream organizations.
Support front end Well project development through Global Well Delivery Process.
Governance, Risk and Assurance
Understand the Risk Management Process and works with the business to identify and mitigate long and short term risks and opportunities.
Ensure compliance with the Cost Estimating Manual, Opportunity Realisation Standards, Global Well Delivery Process, delegation of authorities, and accounting policies.
Cost Management
Ensure financial integrity of benchmarking information
Participate in Wells Planning & Appraisal networks to share and identify best practices in UK Wells P&A.
Support Well Analyst in project cost management for drilling operations.
Continuous Improvement (CI) Focus
Drive CI in the organisation, develop and maintain CI capability.
Drive CI in planning & appraisal space with aim to reduce manhours spent on key processes such as opportunity plan.
Requirements:
Economics, accounting or finance university degree/qualifications
At least 5 years of experience in various financial/accounting positions
Strong finance understanding with analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong business partnering focus. Able to challenge the Business/Function to think through strategic issues and value opportunities. Demonstrate the courage to influence and co-lead the business by bringing analytics and insights to the table, speaking up about risks and creating focus on value.
Proven demonstration of change management behaviours: e.g. building relationships, influencing course of action, flexible thinking, yielding creative solutions, commercial mind-set, self-starter, courageous.
Ability to work under high pressure an in a rapidly changing environment.
Passion for data visualisation techniques and ability to use them in practice.
Preferably professional qualification (or actively studying) (ACCA, CIMA EMFC) or equivalent.
