Job description:

As a member of the specialist Trade Compliance legal team, the TCM will provide Trade Compliance (export and import) advice and support to Business or Function.   
 

 

Accountabilities

  • Work as part of a global team of Trade Compliance Managers.

  • Provide advice and guidance for standard Trade Compliance issues.

  • Liaise closely with Trade Compliance Officer, Trade Compliance lawyers and business/functions staff to resolve and avoid Trade Compliance issues (e.g., application of sanctions, imports, exports, anti-boycott;).

  • Liaise closely with Group Customs and indirect tax staff on import and customs issues. 

  • Assist the Business/Function in assessing risk exposure based on sufficient knowledge of applicable Trade Compliance regulations and Shell procedures.

  • Work with Business/Function Focal Points to address escalations of counterparty screening matches.

  • Keep apprised of changes in regulatory requirements.

  • Promote awareness of Trade Compliance risks and required processes throughout the organization.

  • Gather and report information on Trade Compliance activities as required for internal and external reporting purposes.

  • Maintain close collaboration with relevant risk assurance, finance and compliance staff 

 

Requirements:

The successful candidate must be a good team player and able to work closely and coordinate with legal colleagues, other ethics and compliance professionals and the business, possess the discipline to prioritize projects and conflicting demands, and be able to firmly communicate with tact and diplomacy at multiple levels and across different cultures.

This position is part of a virtual team with members, including the line manager, in other locations.

 

  • University degree or equivalent.

  • English C1 

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, including with senior business leaders and overseas colleagues.

  • Work collaboratively within a team and provide cross-support and guidance as needed; help motivate and encourage positive team dynamics.

  • Knowledge of the IT Function a distinct advantage.

  • Knowledge of Trade Compliance issues and regulations a distinct advantage.

  • Knowledge and usage of trade compliance tools and software preferred.

  • Understanding of Incoterms preferred.

  • Strong research and analytic capabilities; attention to detail.

  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.
