Job description:

Position Purpose: Lead a team of Contracting and Procurement (CP) Professionals to deliver the most competitive and sustainable End to End Supply Chains for the UK Upstream Production business.  The team will manage Third Party Spend and responsible for the creation / management of ~ 20k Requisitions, Purchase Orders and Service Entries per annum. Strong collaboration with internal/external stakeholders and suppliers to deliver commercially innovative solutions.  Develop negotiation strategies and lead the more complex negotiations within the scope of the business/asset.  Champion Continuous Improvement ways of working to ensure the most effective and efficient request to pay process.

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Provide leadership for the Contract Portfolio managed Business Supply Chain, including the Requisition to Pay process, to ensure it is as competitive as possible, taking market developments and local content needs into account.  Being able to demonstrate competitiveness through a variety of proof points, best in class metrics, ‘should cost’ models and external benchmarking.

  • Ensure Supply Chain Strategy supports Goal Zero Aspiration through implementation of robust Contractor Safety Management practices and alignment to business personal and process safety Goal Zero focus areas.

  • As an active member of the Asset Business LT, build highly collaborative relationships, ensuring that CP strategies and processes are fully aligned to the business objectives and that CP bottom line contribution (Cost Improvements).

  • Through effective and collaborative Supplier Relationship Management, ensure a competitive supplier landscape which fosters continuous performance improvements in key metrics (HSSE, Operational and Cost).

  • Identify and resolve non-compliance to the process though awareness, training and escalation, working with other functional disciplines (e.g. AP) as needed.

  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities to improve Operational Effectiveness e.g. PO Cycle time, Materials on Time (MOT), Contract Coverage, Automation, etc.

  • Proactively lead, analyze and drive Channel Management & RtP compliance. Ensure the correct and most efficient RtP Channel (ERP, GCC) is used to execute transactional requirements; contribute to the Tail Spend Management Projects by minimizing Stand-Alone/Off-Contract Spend POs

  • Ensure a strong connect across the E2E CP organization (including close connect with CP colleagues located in the business), the Global Centres of Excellence and the wider global CP organization to ensure bi-directional sharing and leverage of best practices.  

  • Lead, support and personally develop a high performing team of empowered CP professionals aligned to business goals and focused on commercial results.  Enable people to succeed by removing barriers to performance, addressing underperformance and rewarding success. Drive for external focus in the team, ensuring CP professionals spend as much time in the marketplace as possible. Provide extensive Delivery Coaching to frontline staff.

  • An ability to build effective working relationships at senior levels in the business and across CP is therefore essential

  • Extensive experience across the Business Supply Chain, both at a local and global level

  • Proven track record of developing and leading high performing teams and individuals, with demonstrated ability to interact seamlessly and effectively with all levels of management

  • Highly tuned commercial acumen and curiosity with demonstrated ability to develop and deliver value from complex deals.

  • Highly driven, ‘can do’, inspiring, able to articulate in a crisp and precise manner. Is understood and is credible at all levels in Shell

  • Focused on tangible value outcomes for the enterprise, translates strategy to outcomes. Brings external market/supplier into the conversation (curiosity).  Mix of operational experience and global/regional corporate roles. Uncompromising on HSSE, ethics & compliance is a ‘must have’ in all CP roles.

  • Collaborates and integrates within CP, Functions and with business, enterprise first. Understands business and speaks business language. Has effective influencing skills and can flex his/her style to audience. Proven track record of commercial acumen.

  • Continuous improvement and simplification mindset. Enables and empowers team to contribute, recognises people (Engage & Perform). Passionate about developing people.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
