Job description:

Purpose:

The team, led by the GM Downstream and New Energies Data Privacy, works with the Chief Privacy Office legal team and Data Privacy focal points across the Downstream and New Energies businesses and functions to ensure compliance with the Group’s Data Privacy manual.  Our role is to institutionalize Data Privacy best practice in a fit for purpose manner throughout the Downstream and New Energies organisation and the support functions.
 
This position will suit someone of high energy who is committed both to protecting Shell’s reputation and enabling business growth through highly effective customer relationships.  


Accountabilities include:

  • Ensuring there are appropriate engagement, tools and training in place to enable full value to be extracted from sales and marketing activities, with risks appropriately assessed and mitigated. 

  • Developing innovative solutions to innovative problems, in full cooperation with legal, business and functional experts, is an essential part of doing business better through excellent data privacy practice. 

  • Working with Shell's Information Risk Management team to ensure the Incident Management process works effectively and meets the tight regulatory timeline requirements

  • Ensuring resolution options are implemented which mitigate the risks for Shell, Shell’s customers and other 3rd parties

  • Supporting the Problem Manager in conducting investigations into root causes and control failures

  • Bringing together and managing short-term Incident response teams to deal with major Data Privacy Incidents

  • Helping identify improvements to drive a cycle of Continuous Improvement

  • Changing regulatory environment, requiring a pro-active and flexible approach to incident management

  • Regulatory requirements to assess and report incidents to Data Privacy authorities within 72 hours or less depending on the geography involved


Requirements:

Exceptional influencing skills 

  • Good stakeholder management skills 

  • keeping key stakeholders informed whilst keeping tight control over confidential communications

  • developing a strong network across the business and functions

  • English min. C1

  • The ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation

  • The ability to choose the appropriate communication medium (email, meeting, phone call) to get the right result


Strong Risk Management skills

  • Ability to take risk-based decisions balancing compliance requirements against the need to do business

  • Ability to take decisions under time pressure based on incomplete information

  • Time management including prioritising competing urgent activities

  • Change Management to support Continuous Improvement initiatives

  • Practical experience of Downstream would be an advantage
