Job description:

Shell Bitumen is a fully integrated business. Our activities under control cover all key aspects of a downstream operation, including Make (own refineries), Buy, Blend (own/third party depots), Move, Market (across Europe and Africa).
Starting 2019, Shell Bitumen Europe/Africa will co-locate its key business activities in Krakow, creating a variety of long-term career options in an ever changing, demanding but highly rewarding work environment.

In this context the Pricing and Margin Optimisation Manager’s main responsibilities are:

 

  1. Value Generation:
    Drive optimal Pricing in the Markets (supported by insightful analytics) and create additional value by identifying and acting on margin improvement opportunities (enabled through your detailed understanding of the price, market, long/short positions, supply structure and associated cost)

     

  2. Faultless Pricing:
    Deliver faultless pricing operations and to deliver insights from data that drive business results for the region.

 
 
Job purpose: 
Faultless Pricing:
Deliver perfect pricing and exposure operations that leave no dollar on the table and lead to high levels of customer and front-line staff satisfaction.
 
Value Generation:
Drive optimal Pricing in the Markets and create additional value by identifying and acting on margin improvement opportunities.
 
 
Principal accountabilities:
 

  1. Value Generation (Price and Margin Optimisation)

  2. Accurate & efficient sales price administration

  3. Accurate & efficient purchase price (costs) administration

  4. Prompt and accurate execution of exposure management actions in support of the Exposure manager.


 
Principal Responsibilities:
 

  1. Operational Elements

 

  • Ensure routine price and cost administration is flawless. Addressing root causes of persistent issues while taking into account front line efficiency

  • Execute exposure management interventions in support of the Exposure Manager

  • Operate and continuously enhance current business analytics and information resources.

  • Establish suitable performance indicators reflecting the commercial and control objectives of pricing.

  • Establish a program of performance improvement initiatives driven by the above indicators.

  • Develop, capture and implement best practices, share with and learn from the global pricing excellence journey inside Specialties and the wider Shell community

  • Primus inter pares for pricing & margin optimisation activities (coordination of activities and special projects)

 

  1. Commercial Elements

 
 

  • Identify and act on value opportunities through price setting and margin optimisation

  • Unlock value opportunities considered “too difficult” to operate.

  • Operationalise customer and supplier pricing propositions with the goal of perfect consumer satisfaction.

  • Develop simple yet innovative analytical insights to exploit Shell price, margin and volume data. Materialise these insights through accessible tools that guide negotiators towards better commercial outcomes.

  • Above and beyond the preceding responsibilities, use your understanding of Bitumen prices to contribute to growing the value of the business year on year.

  • Bitumen Europe/Africa is operating in > 15 Countries –

  • Core businesses currently is located in Western and Central Europe and South Africa

  • Regular exports into a variety of other countries

  • Specialities is a fast growing and evolving business. Therefore curiosity, ability to embrace change and drive for continuous improvement are key attributes for a successful candidate.

  • This role experiences periods of intense activity (month, quarter and year end) which are tightly time bound and critical to business operations.

Requirements:

 

Qualifications required:
 
Essential

 

  • Strong Commercial and Enterprise First mind set

  • Detailed working knowledge of B2B hydrocarbon pricing practice, processes and tools.

  • Highly skilled and competent in the use of SAP with respect to pricing & billing.

  • Technically capable and able to innovate in the use of end user computing tools such as Excel, Access, and Sharepoint.

  • Highly numerate and able to present complex data in simple intuitive ways

  • Superb analytical skills, strong problem-solving mind-set, preferably with a financial background

  • Strong leadership capabilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Knowledge of French and/or German is a plus. (fluent English is a must)

 
Desirable

  • Knowledgeable in the areas of Bitumen, Fuel Oil & Residue markets
