Overview

The Specialist Project Manager role exists within the Global Client Onboarding Team.  Client Onboarding manage the governance and implementation of client relationships onboarding to BNY Mellon Asset Servicing in accordance with organizational and regulatory governance requirements.  The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects to manage In & Out conversion of services to/from BNY Mellon Asset Servicing (including but not limited to: Custody, Trustee & Depositary, Transfer Agency, Fund Accounting, and ancillary services).  The transition projects are complex and may be workstreams of multi-phased programmes.  The Project Manager is required to adhere to strict deadlines and standard project process/implementation methods.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivers complex external projects or workstreams on larger programmes, ensuring successful implementation within deadlines.
  • Stays abreast of organization and function operations and is familiar with company practices relevant to metrics, performance indicators, reporting protocols, and audit requirements.
  • No direct reports; may provide guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Provide clear direction and leadership to staff managed during a project.
  • Manage communication with the various stakeholders (including internal, external and third parties).
  • Define and manage any project budget with regular tracking.
  • Organise resources for project workshops/support with relevant managers in line with both business and project needs.
  • Ensure standard methodology is used, quality controls are put in place and change control processes are implemented.
  • Monitor progress and report on status of projects.
  • Evaluate potential risks and issues and determine appropriate actions/plans to mitigate them.
  • Ensure all project commitments are met.
  • Have a sound understanding of BNYM products, services, and clients.

 Business Expertise

  • A strong understanding is required of the various functions within the Asset Servicing business and how they fit together.
  • A consistent ability to deliver, even under tough circumstances, within deadlines and manage client expectation.
  • Previous involvement in managing complex projects or programmes within Financial Services.
  • Experience of working across the core Asset Servicing functions: Custody, Trustee & Depositary, Transfer Agency, and Fund Accounting (either within BNYM or a similar financial organisation).
  • Should have a sound understanding of the commercial environment and competitors’ products.
  • Identify and manage issues, risks and change control throughout the project lifecycle.

 Qualifications

  • Has a sound knowledge of Project and Change Management.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Prince II Practitioner or relevant job experience / alternative qualification.
  • Competent with all aspects of Microsoft Office and MS Project.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 3-5 years of total work experience preferred, Project Management experience or experience within one or more of the Asset Servicing functions is essential.
