Position Summary

As part of the Finance Team, you will cooperate closely with the Warsaw Head Accountant and Accountant Specialist. You will be responsible for a wide spectrum of accounting related tasks in accordance and in compliance with the Polish accounting and taxation rules and processes in line with the global systems and requirements set by the White & Case management. You will also be expected to deliver high-quality services on some of the payroll processes for employees and contractors based in the Warsaw office of White & Case.

Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties of the role will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • conducting accounting procedures and accounting documentation according to accounting policies binding in the Warsaw office;
  • responsibility for conducting accounting in compliance with binding regulations and Group policy;
  • ensuring proper and timely performance of accounting operations;
  • substantive control of documents and proper accounting entries;
  • account assignment and recording documents;
  • reconciliation of accounts;
  • ongoing analysis and verification of entries in accounting records;
  • conducting records of accounting costs and reconciling them with the Main Accounts ledger;
  • accounting and calculating reserves, currency valuation and deferred taxes;
  • valuation of assets and liabilities in accordance with the Firm’s accepted principles;
  • conducting and settling inventory;
  • entering fixed assets, calculating amortization;
  • accounting bank statements;
  • reconciling and confirming balances with vendors;
  • cooperation with external institutions, such as social security (ZUS), tax authorities, the National Bank of Poland, and the Central Statistical Office (GUS);
  • cooperation with other departments of the organization in the scope of accounting;
  • preparation of accounts for civil contracts agreements;
  • accounting activities connected with payroll.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years’ professional experience as an accountant, independent accountant or senior accountant;
  • Knowledge of the Accounting Act and binding tax regulations;
  • Knowledge of and experience with using ERP programs (especially knowledge of the Macrologic ERP program);
  • Native Polish and a minimum intermediate English speaker in order to meet the Warsaw office’s business needs as well as collaborate with other offices.

  • Excellent internal service provider always finding the best solutions with ability to build relationships at all levels and with all groups (lawyers and Business Services staff);
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • High personal standards of ethical conduct and ability to securely handle and manage sensitive and confidential information relating to the Firm and its clients;
  • Accountable team player contributing to the success of the team;
  • Computer literate with strong Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups;
  • Ability to learn new systems.

Location and Reporting
