Job Description

The Internal Controls Specialist will be a member of the Compliance Centre of Capability (CoC) which provides and facilitates comprehensive assurance to both local and centralised operations to ensure that key operational and compliance risks are effectively and consistently mitigated.  

As a key player within our Integrated Assurance Model, the Internal Controls Specialist will work closely with 1st Line teams to support consistent control implementation as well as validating this through robust control testing and execution methodologies over financial and non-financial risks and related key control solutions / risk mitigation.

This is an exciting opportunity for young Talents who are willing to develop further in the controls monitoring area and are open for exciting challenges as we embark on transforming the GBS area at Imperial Brands.

Your responsibilities

  • Performing control monitoring / verification activities within an allocated area of the Group’s operations.
  • Executing the annual compliance testing programme of pre-defined control activities or coordinate and review testing performed by others.
  • Supporting the implementation of control activities in retained processes and maintain related procedures.
  • Providing insightful reporting to internal customers in terms of the level of compliance achieved, remedial actions being put in place and any mitigation to address identified risk exposures.
  • Supporting the localisation of Group policies and standards with the identification of any locally specific control requirements.

Our requirements

  • University degree (BA or MA) in finance, business administration or similar area
  • 0-3 years of experience in the corporate financial/business structures with an international scope
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to follow schedules and determination to achieve goals
  • Great analytical and report writing skills to visualise data in insightful ways
  • Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with diverse stakeholders and teammates with multicultural background across multiple countries
  • Positive, proactive and solution oriented approach to work, the desire for continued self-development, confidence in dealing with others
  • Genuine passion and enthusiasm for compliance and business assurance activities.
