A career in Information Technology, within Internal Firm Services, will provide you with the opportunity to support our core business functions by deploying applications that enable our people to work more efficiently and deliver the highest levels of service to our clients. You’ll focus on managing the design and implementation of technology infrastructure within PwC, developing and enhancing both client and internal facing applications within PwC, and providing technology tools that help create a competitive advantage for the Firm to drive strategic business growth.

Our Information Technology Project Management team collaborates with PwC practice leaders to develop and deliver technology solutions. We provide project management oversight and collaborate with various project resources and vendors to ensure the appropriate methodology is followed, deliverable quality is high, and satisfaction is achieved. Simply put, you’ll solve business problems using technology, work with multiple teams concurrently, and be able to take pride in end to end ownership of a project.

Technical Writer


Role  

  • Collaborate with content owners (e.g., product / project managers, engineers, programmers, solution architects) to produce new documentation or update / consolidate existing documentation 
  • Create distinct deliverables based on audience or consumer of documentation (e.g., client vs. internal users) 
  • Design documentation based on project needs – docs may include user guides, operations, design requirements, quick reference cards (QRCs), onboarding, training, frequently asked questions (FAQs), policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and comms 
  • Quickly learn complex concepts and technical details and communicate content in a manner that is simple to understand, engaging, direct, and accurate 
  • Follow PwC’s branding standards relative to formatting, fonts, colours, etc. 
  • Maintain and improve documentation based on team and customer feedback 
  • Edit documentation – your own and materials created by others – to ensure consistency, accuracy, “one voice” author tone, and adherence to PwC standards 
  • If needed, create a documentation checklist / standards for use by team to ensure consistency and uniformity among deliverables (e.g., links to PwC standards, components [ToC, approver and history sections, title pages, copyright statement, headers/footers], edit tips) 
  • Update documentation before finalisation to reflect reviewers’ feedback and recommendations; schedule meetings to clarify, if needed 
  • Produce deliverables (e.g., drafts to publication ready) within defined project timelines 
  • Create a documentation tracker for use by team 
  • Maintain documentation to reflect functionality changes /evolution 
  • Liaise with other teams to produce non-traditional documentation, such as videos, demos, guided tours, if needed 

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in English, technical writing, communications, or journalism 
  • 10 + years of experience in software documentation, online publishing, online help development, API documentation, installation and user guides, release notes
  • Two to five years’ experience as a technical writer in a corporate environment (global ideally) Proven technical writing and editing skills. Superior command of the English language including rules and usage.
  • Quickly analyse and synthesize complex content, and learn concepts and tools 
  • Possess outstanding writing and editing skills, as well as attention to detail 
  • Write clearly and succinctly for a global audience of users inside and outside the firm; employ the  “3 Cs” – be concise, consistent, and clear 
  • Target content for a specific level of audience and always consider user experience 
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively 
  • Offer feedback when examining systems or applications (e.g., suggestions relative to wording of messages, use of language, spelling, and wording) to improve product and how it is received 
  • Manage multiple writing assignments simultaneously 
  • Demonstrate excellent, clear, clean, accessible writing; obsessive eye for consistency and accuracy 
  • Possess strong analytical skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements and priorities 
  • Possess proficiency in MS Word and Google 
  • Provide writing samples
