HOW DO WE RECRUIT
After the application deadline, we screen and evaluate all applications in order to select the candidates we would like to progress to a personal interview. We value our human capital and due to that fact – recruitment processes are also led internally.
First interview – phone screening
The purpose of the interview is to validate information from the application and get insights about the candidate’s motivation and expectations for this position.
Areas to be covered in the interview:
Second interview and assessment
Typically, it is Hiring Manager and Recruiter who participate in an interview. They can be supported by Technical Lead or other relevant department representative.
The aim of the interview is:
For leadership and higher specialist positions, we use a range of assessment tools devised to assess skills relevant to the particular role, e.g. language tests, numerical and verbal reasoning assessments, as well as an online personality questionnaire that reviews behaviour and preferred working styles.
The personality questionnaire is one of the tools used as a basis for the second interview, so that we ensure we gain a complete representation of you. We believe that a thorough recruitment process is crucial in order to ensure that we hire the right person for the job, team and company.
Employment
Dependent on where the role will be based, we will obtain references from your former employer. Naturally, this only takes place in agreement with you. If we offer you the job, you will be notified verbally and then the offer letter would be sent to you as soon as possible.
Rejection
If you are not invited to attend an interview, you will either receive a rejection email. If you have attended an interview with us, you will receive verbal/written notification of the outcome of your interview.
The situation, in which we found ourselves, was a surprise to all entrepreneurs around the world.
We moved to work from home just like that and we took our responsibilities with us.
In terms of the stages included in recruitment process – nothing changed! If you apply for one of our job offers, you can expect Recruiter to call you and do the first phone interview accordingly to your availability.
Thanks to digital solutions we could turn interviews - usually held in a face-to-face manner - to Video Interviews that are being held via MS Teams. We work that way daily and cooperate with our colleagues all over the world, so hopefully we can also meet you during online interview as well. You can use MS teams in your browser or as an application that is free and easy to install on your laptop. It will keep our audio and video connection complete and hopefully we would come back with the offer at the end :)
Onboarding is taken care by our HR Admin and Facility team. Once we are finished with all hiring formalities, you are given all needed tools and you can go home to start online onboarding.
Arla introduced many changes that enabled the company and its employees with appropriate working conditions. First, the IT department was put on alert, which enabled remote work for the entire centre located in Gdańsk (about 450 people). Employees could receive technical support, were equipped with laptops, and were able to borrow monitors for this difficult time, so that they could work comfortably from home.
In addition to technical supply, our IT Service Desk Support is available for employees 24/7. In case of any problems with remote connection with the company’s network or any other problems we encounter, it gives us constant support. In the current situation, Arla also to implement an innovative solution that allows you to use mobile applications on various devices: on laptops, mobile phones, private computers in a safe, problem-free manner.
Apart from operational continuity, employee well-being is also important. Teams in the company introduced "catch-up meetings" - meetings aimed at talking not only about the operational status, but also about well-being. This is the time for the team to add a pinch of social life and drink coffee (even though online) among friends in front of a computer with the camera on (for volunteers). This form of meetings promotes not only good mood, but also integration. Have you ever had the opportunity to see a dog, a cat, or a picture on the wall of your teammate?
What is more, employees can improve the way they work online. Arla organizes additional webinars, supporting employees in facing new challenges (eg "How to work effectively from home?"). And if you have enough of your desk - we invite you to Yoga Online! :)
Last, but not least - the opportunity to benefit from flexible working hours is a great convenience for parents working in Arla as their children can’t go to school. During the day they can take care of the children and finish their duties in the late afternoon or evening.
Relax, you are working at Arla.
It’s not easy to describe why Scandinavian companies are such a good workplaces. It’s a mixture of communication style, international environment, great people, the nature of work matched with private life and mutual respect.
Perfect view for career.
New guests in our office, and especially candidates are unable to tear themselves away from the windows. An office in the clouds a few minutes from the beach? We love that!
Imagine job that fits your lifestyle. Done.
Some say it's work-life balance. We'd rather say: flexible working hours put into practice. Professionalism is very important to us, but we know that work is only part of our life. While it can give a lot of satisfaction, work should not be an end in itself.
We even accept lactose intolerance…
We hire openminded people. It doesn't matter where are you from, who you love and which gender you represent. We are all equal and we respect each other.
Wellness is a duty.
Good physical and mental well-being is important to us. We introduced the #BeeWell office exercise program to keep ourselves in a good shape. We also train yoga together, run and use ergonomic equipment in the office.
No dress code zone.
Do you associate work in big company with suits and corporate lingo? Forget about it.
At Arla GSS we are all on first name terms and come to work wearing casual clothes. We respect diversity and appreciate individuality.
We are sustainable.
In 2019, Arla globally announced its sustainable development strategy. Zero plastic in packaging up to 2030 and zero-emission production up to 2050. In Gdansk, we implement daily habits - in small steps, but effectively.
