Job description:

Lead the CP (Contracting and Procurement) Operations Trading Supply Europe team to enable and deliver the most competitive Supply Chains for the Downstream Trading & Supply business. 

This is a regional position, leading a team of Contracting & Procurement professionals to enable and deliver the most competitive supply chains for Trading & Supply across various sites & categories in Europe and global Trading categories. This role will be required to demonstrate strong leadership and be the CP Operations focal point to the Senior Procurement Manager and country-based CP teams, aligning priorities and strategies, creating a one team and commercial mindset and enabling simple and efficient CP operations. This is an exciting time for the team as it grows, expands its scope and takes on more complex activities. 

Accountabilities 

 

  • Lead and develop a team of 5 Contracting and Procurement staff aligning them to business goals and focused on safety, commercial results and operational excellence. Manage the team’s delivery, appraisal, professional development and succession planning including closing any gaps in terms of skills and competencies. Develop team’s knowledge of Trading & Supply industry and fostering a customer and commercial mind-set and enable people to succeed by coaching and removing barriers to performance.

  • As an active member of the CP Trading & Supply Europe Leadership Team, build highly collaborative relationships, ensuring that CP strategies and processes are fully aligned with the business objectives and that CP bottom line contribution (Cost Improvements) are fully reflected in Business Plans. Develop and drive the delivery of the integrated plans for Trading & Supply categories. Ensure that CP strategies and processes are fully aligned with the business objectives and stakeholders.

  • Provide leadership for the contract portfolio managed by CP Operations, to ensure it is as competitive as possible, taking market developments into account. Demonstrate competitiveness through a variety of proof points, best in class metrics, ‘should cost’ models and external benchmarking. Develop with Senior Buyers negotiation strategies and potentially lead the more complex negotiations.

  • Drive RtP performance for goods and services on end to end basis improving service and procurement cost in a high tempo operational environment. This includes a focus on Waste Free RtP, channel management, automation and RtP compliance.

  • Working with CP internal Support, FO Data, Information & Insights and Accounts Payable to improve ways of working and resolve issues.

  • Champion HSSE and ensure Supply Chain Strategy supports HSSE Goal Zero Aspiration through implementation of robust Contractor Safety Management practices and alignment to business, personal and process safety Goal Zero focus areas.

  • Drive external focus in the team and through effective and collaborative Supplier Relationship Management, ensure a competitive supplier landscape which enables continuous performance improvements in key metrics (HSSE, Operational and Cost) and delivers on Shell’s Sustainable Development targets.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to the team and promote best practices sharing across teams and CP. Play an active role in development of SBO Krakow; its people, its teams, its operations as required displaying leadership support as necessary. 

  • Drive Continuous Improvement principles to create a performance culture, incl. with support of Visual Management. Identify and implement / support Continuous Improvement opportunities to improve Operational Effectiveness e.g. PO cycle time, reduction of stand-alone POs, contract coverage, automation, etc.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Proven leader, with a commercial and continuous improvement mindset, and track record of developing and leading high performing teams and individuals.

  • Contracting and procurement professional or commercial experience of delivering outstanding commercial results.

  • Uncompromising on HSSE, ethics & compliance is a ‘must have’ in all CP roles.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to interact seamlessly and effectively with all levels of management. Ability to lead change and resolve conflicts at multiple levels

  • Continuous Improvement mindset and simplification mindset with analytical capability to identify root causes and ability to deliver change.

  • Collaborates with partners to drive end to end results and has effective influencing skills and can flex his/her style to audience.

  • Good understanding of RtP process and what drives performance and functional excellence in RtP.

  • Trading & Supply experience/business knowledge desirable.
