Operating System Support – Distributed Overview:
Responsible for all Intel hardware and OS in US (3 sites). Windows 2012, 2016. RHEL. All servers are IBM/Lenovo, 98% are blades.
Primary production site is DRT in Piscataway, Secondary is Philadelphia (SunGard) BCP/test. 2,400 virtual RHEL 6, 7 servers. 2,000 Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 servers. 200 VMWare ESX 6.7 servers.
Windows 2016 File servers. IBM Tivoli Protect Backup. Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP 14). All storage provisioned is Hitachi G1500 or PURE.
Required weekend work, 1 or 2 Saturdays a month, 2 to 10 hours, sometimes Sundays.
BYOD, Blackberry for Work required.
Essential Functions:
- Microsoft 2012/2016+ Server OS Installation and support skills – Required
- VmWare ESX 5+ Installation and support – Required
- Active Directory Experience – Required
- Windows Scripting Experience – Required
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills – Required
- Monitor the servers for hardware/software performance issues.
- Plan and coordinate upgrades, patches and deploy technologies
- Manage infrastructure support tickets.
- Monitor daily backups.
- Manage antivirus installations and scanning.
Position Qualifications and Required Traits:
- Experience with setting up Microsoft based systems, support mechanisms, and architectures
- Experience with backup and recovery tools (TSM preferred).
- Familiarity with virtual servers and ESXi
- File server maintenance and management of shares and quotas
- Strong Active Directory and group policy management skills.
- Antivirus software setup, configuration, and management (SEP preferred)
- Experience with network monitoring software.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 is a plus
- Familiarity with routers, firewalls and managed switches (Cisco preferred).
- Solid network analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with tickets and internal customers directly.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain and communicate complex technical issues to business and application personnel.
- Ability to communicate status of tasks (progress and milestones).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage overall workload.
- Strong teamwork and knowledge sharing capabilities.
- Ability to understand, implement, and maintain new technologies from investigation to implementation
