TM1 Administrator - Data and Finance Systems

The FP&A Centre of Excellence (COE) exists to deliver quality insights and performance management that help Smith & Nephew deliver the Life Unlimited purpose to our stakeholders. The Centre of Excellence was created in 2020 to be a world class, integrated FP&A organization. Within the COE, the Data & Systems team is responsible for providing high quality planning process, data and systems design, support and maintenance across the global Smith & Nephew Finance community.

Effectively leveraging our systems investments and having top class talent is critical. We are looking for new team members that can deliver the day-to-day operations whilst also developing by scanning and understanding the IT landscape and supporting the strategic evolution of our planning and analysis toolset. The structure of the team and wider opportunities in the centre means Smith & Nephew is seeking strong candidates that progress through career steps in our organisation.

Reporting to the Data & Systems lead the incumbent will have the opportunity to develop and develop others by delivering continuous improvement projects in FP&A – improving our budgeting processes and how we leverage our tools.  Flexibility will be required to balance and adjust priorities across shorter and longer term delivery requirements: your scope will span from involvement in the systems activities and support through to training / engagement and development.

Specifically the TM1 administrator will work in Data and Finance System team and will be responsible for owning and supporting the Planning Analytics (TM1) applications. It includes Revenue and Cost applications relating to monthly actual, annual budget and periodic forecasts. The role involves close collaboration with Global Finance team and wider finance teams across the world. It also involve working with Data Warehouse teams and BI teams to receive and send data in specified formats. There will also be exposure to Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) tool used for Statutory reporting as part of the role includes system reconciliations between TM1 and HFM.

responsibilities

  • Data Load to TM1 applications:
    • Monitoring and supporting data load at month end relating to actuals from Data warehouse and other ERPs and using CSV upload files
    • Reconciliation with HFM Data and reviewing Franchise allocations
    • Ensuring data consistency between cubes and applications
    • Review and production of Franchise P&L
  • Understanding the existing Data Transfer Processes (Turbo Integrator – TI Processes) and be able to modify and create simpler processes to perform data movements within TM1 environment
  • Understand, modify and create Dimensions, Hierarchies, Calculations (rules) and Web views
  • Modifying and creation of the Budget and Forecast Upload templates for TM1 end users data load
  • Work on automation and scheduling of processes e.g. using TM1 chores, Thread Manager and exploring other options for automation
  • Maintaining and creating, as required, Operations Run Book for the specific application per the area of responsibility
  • Be a technical lead in the projects working with Information Technology Development team for enhancement of existing applications or creating new applications
  • Performing users training and induction of the TM1 applications including upload and extraction of data and promotion of submissions
  • Ensure processes in TM1 meet and support the control objectives and audit and review of the TM1 users
  • Work with other teams e.g. BI teams and provide the requested information and ensure accuracy of data and information. You will also have ability to develop and deploy new solutions whether that’s automations or supporting on journey around automated forecasting (ML) or piloting alternate budgeting methodologies.
  • Build functional knowledge and understanding of the business and P&L beyond TM1 technical processes and do deep dives and analysis of the underlying data
  • Support leadership in identifying future development data and toolset opportunities. You have the opportunity to combine operational delivery with strategic input.  This will include being a leading representative on projects working with Information Technology Development team for enhancement of existing applications or creating / deploying new applications

education

  • Degree in Information Technology/Computer Application

licenses / certifications

  • TM1 or Anaplan or Other EPM tools

competences

  • 5+ years of experience with EPM system, preferably TM1 in capacity of system support and some experience on System Development
  • Ability to own / manage multiple deliverables with quality and timely output
  • Ability to build strong relationships with wider finance teams across regions and countries
  • Be proactive and initiate and drive changes and be enthusiastic for gaining new knowledge and proposing improvements
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to think strategically, innovatively and solve problems
  • Be a team player with a demonstrated curiousity and passion for both learning and sharing their knowledge with other team members
