We at United Parcel Service, Inc., along with our subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “we”, “our”, “us” and “UPS”), respect your concerns about privacy. This Careers Privacy Notice describes the types of personal information we collect via the UPS Careers websites (the “Careers Sites”), how we may use the information and with whom we may share it. This Careers Privacy Notice also describes the measures we take to safeguard the personal information. In addition, we tell you how you can ask us to (i) access or change the personal information we maintain about you, (ii) refrain from sending you certain communications, and (iii) answer questions you may have about our privacy practices.
Information We Obtain
I. Voluntary Provision of Personal Information
You may choose to provide personal information (such as name and contact details) through our Careers Sites. However, note that if you do not provide certain personal information, we may not be able to achieve some of the purposes outlined in this Notice.

The types of personal information you may provide include:

• Username and password to access the Careers Sites

III. Sensitive Personal Information
Except as described in this Careers Privacy Notice or as permitted or required by law, UPS does not collect personal information that may be considered sensitive under applicable data protection law (such as biometric data and information about your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, criminal records, criminal proceedings, or health or sex life). If you apply for a positions in certain countries such as the U.S., you may provide information on your gender, race or ethnicity on a voluntary basis. UPS will not consider either this information or your choice to decline to provide it in evaluating your qualifications for employment with us. We may use this information to the extent necessary or appropriate for compliance with relevant legal or contractual obligations and for other internal purposes.
IV. Information Obtained from Cookies and Third Parties
In addition, when you visit our Careers Sites, we may collect certain information by automated means, such as cookies and web beacons. The information we collect in this manner includes IP address, browser characteristics, device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, information on actions taken on the sites, and dates and times of website visits. A “cookie” is a text file that websites send to a visitor’s computer or other Internet-connected device to uniquely identify the visitor’s browser or to store information or settings in the browser. A “web beacon,” also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and their cookies and may be used to transmit information collected through cookies back to a web server. Through these automated collection methods, we obtain “clickstream data,” which is a log of content on which a visitor clicks while browsing a website. As the visitor clicks through the website, a record of the action may be collected and stored. We may link certain data elements we have collected through automated means, such as your browser information, with other information we have obtained about you to let us know, for example, whether you have opened an email we sent to you. We also may use third-party website analytics tools that collect information about visitor traffic on the Careers Sites. Your browser may tell you how to be notified when you receive certain types of cookies or how to restrict or disable certain types of cookies. Please note, however, that without cookies you may not be able to use all of the features of the Careers Sites.
The providers of third-party apps, tools, widgets and plug-ins on the Careers Sites, such as third-party login services and Facebook “Like” buttons, also may use automated means to collect information regarding your interactions with these features. This information is subject to the privacy policies or notices of these providers.
How We Use the Information We Obtain
The legal bases and purposes for which we process the personal information we obtain about you include:

We also use this information to help diagnose technical and service problems, administer our websites, identify users of our websites, and gather demographic information about our users. We use clickstream data to determine how much time users spend on web pages of our websites, which websites they come from, how users navigate through our websites, and how we may tailor our websites to better meet the needs of our users.

Sensitive Information: The legal bases and purposes for which we process sensitive personal information we obtain about you include:
• Facilitating a Potential Contractual Relationship with You: We may request you to provide certain types of sensitive personal information for specific purposes, including the collection of health/medical information in order to accommodate a disability.
• Compliance with Our Legal Obligations as an Employer: We collect certain sensitive personal information in order to comply with legal obligations and internal policies.
Please be assured that we will only use such sensitive personal information for limited purposes and as provided by law, unless we have obtained your consent to use it in other ways.
You may see our ads on other websites based on your visits to the Careers Sites because we engage in retargeting. For example, if you view a particular position on the Careers Sites, you may see an ad for that position on a third-party website. Our retargeting is administered by third-party vendors that track your activity on the Careers Sites and third-party sites via automated means, such as cookies and web beacons. Accordingly, we and our third-party vendors may collect information about our visitors’ online activities, over time and across third-party websites. Information We Share and Transfer
We do not sell or otherwise share personal information about you, except as described in this Careers Privacy Notice. We may share the personal information we obtain with our affiliates for the purposes described in this Careers Privacy Notice. We also share personal information with third parties who perform services on our behalf based on our instructions. These third parties are not authorized by us to use or disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements.
Due to the global nature of UPS operations, UPS may disclose your personal information to other entities within the UPS group to fulfill the purposes described in this Careers Privacy Notice. This may include transferring personal information outside the EEA to locations in the U.S. and other countries that have different data protection laws than those in the country in which you are based or located and that may not have been granted an adequacy decision by the European Commission. When we transfer your personal information to other countries, we will protect that information as described in this Careers Privacy Notice and in accordance with applicable law. Where applicable, we use contractual protections for the transfer of personal information among various jurisdictions (including, for example, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses).
Access to, use of and other processing of personal information by UPS generally will be limited to individuals who have a need to know the information for the purposes described in this Careers Privacy Notice, which may include personnel in HR as well as your potential future managers or others appointed by him or her.
We also may disclose personal information about you to third parties other than service providers: (i) if we are required to do so by law, regulation or legal process (such as a court order or subpoena), (ii) in response to requests by government agencies; or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity. Your Personal Information Rights and Options
Subject to applicable law, you have certain rights with respect to our processing of your personal information, which may include: (i) the right to access your personal information; (ii) the right to obtain correction of your personal information which is incomplete, inaccurate or outdated; (iii) the right to request the transmission of your personal information you have provided to us, to you or to another company, (iv) the right to object to any uses or disclosures of your personal information, (v) the right to withdraw your consent in relation to our processing of your personal information based on your consent, (vi) the right to request deletion of your personal information and (vii) the right to request that we restrict processing of your personal information.
If permitted by applicable law, you may request to exercise these rights free of charge by contacting us as described below in the “How to Contact Us” section. However, we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse to act on a request if it is manifestly unfounded, excessive or otherwise unreasonable in particular because of its repetitive nature. In some situations, we may refuse to act or may impose limitations on your rights if, for instance, your request is likely to adversely affect the rights and freedoms of UPS or others, prejudice the execution or enforcement of the law, interfere with pending or future litigation, or infringe the law. In addition, we offer you certain choices about how we communicate with you and what information we collect from you. If you visit the job application tools on our Careers Sites, you may update the personal information you have submitted there by visiting the profile section of your account or, for a limited time, revising an application. You also may contact us as described in the “How to Contact Us” section below to submit requests, update your preferences, or ask us to remove your information from our mailing lists pursuant to applicable law. Please help keep your personal information up to date and inform us of any significant changes to your personal information.

Information collected through third-party apps, tools, widgets and plug-ins (such as information obtained through third-party login services or relating to your use of a Facebook “Like” button) is collected directly by the providers of these features. This information is subject to the privacy policies or notices of the providers of the features, and UPS is not responsible for those providers’ information provision practices.
How We Protect and Retain Personal Information
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information you provide against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. As required by applicable law, when UPS retains a third-party service provider, that provider will be required to (i) use measures to protect the confidentiality and security of the personal information and (ii) process the personal information only as directed by UPS.
We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes outlined in this Careers Privacy Notice, usually for the period during which your application is pending and for any period thereafter as legally required or permitted by law. This means that, in some cases, we may be required to retain your personal information for a period of time after your application has been decided. Our retention policies reflect applicable statute of limitation periods and legal requirements.
Updates to Our Careers Privacy Notice
This Careers Privacy Notice may be updated periodically and without prior notice to you to reflect changes in our personal information practices. We will post a prominent notice on our Careers Sites to notify you of any significant changes to our Careers Privacy Notice and indicate at the top of the notice when it was most recently updated.
