Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting an Expense Administration Supervisor.

The Expense Administration Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily operations of all expense administration including the direct oversight of personnel such as the Expense Administration Representatives and the Senior Expense Administration Representatives.

The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and training to their direct reports while overseeing daily operations and managing the allocation of work and the review and administration of invoices, forecasts, accrual calculations, reporting and daily requests from internal colleagues and clients.

The Supervisor will report directly to the Expense Administration Team Leader or Manager and will report regularly on the allocation of work, the control environment, process improvements, opportunities for improvement, and the challenges and successes of each current Expense Administration team member.    

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/MS degree and/or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial product accounting, fund accounting or basic accounting and analysis preferred

  • Prior supervisory experience; strong desire to manage others and a willingness to provide the necessary support and leadership for their development

  • Self-motivated, capable of monitoring and completing a variety of projects simultaneously

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to work in a deadline oriented, client-driven environment, being well organized and detail oriented

  • Be highly engaged in the team’s collective work to foster a highly collaborative team environment

  • Advanced knowledge of mutual fund products, multi-class accounting, and the components of a NAV

  • Proactively anticipate client needs and respond effectively to client inquiries

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Strong desire to manage others and a willingness to provide the necessary support and leadership for their development

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Some of your key responsibilities include:  

  • Reviews all daily work performed by the team for completeness, accuracy and compliance with current policies and procedures

  • Allocates all accruals, invoices, reporting and special requests appropriately to available Expense Representatives and Seniors

  • Creates, maintains, and provides oversight for all daily checklists and controls

  • Reviews all fund level and expense account level budgets for completeness, reasonableness and accuracy on a periodic basis

  • Oversees any changes to expense structures for assigned accounts as changes go into effect such as product launches, mergers, liquidations or other client directed changes

  • Trains and develops Expense Administration Representatives and Seniors as needed and provide staff with support and coverage as necessary

  • Assists team members with problem solving and issue resolution; Utilizes best judgment to escalate issues to senior managers as appropriate

  • Maintains a working familiarity with applicable accounting and financial reporting rules and regulations as relates to all products and expense structures for which the team may have responsibility

  • Communicates appropriately with the Expense Administration Team Leader or Manager with respect to all timetables and workflow and communicates to the extent appropriate all relevant matters with other team members

  • Continually reassesses, develops, and implements processes to increase efficiency within the team, while maintaining the highest standards of analysis and levels of output

  • Prepares, maintains and evolves periodic reporting (control reports, board reports) as required internally or externally by the client(s)

  • Utilizes effective analytical and research techniques to resolve inquiries

  • Provides leadership for projects and changes as requested

  • Provides leadership for process maintenance and updates as needed

  • Provides consistent, positive mentoring and development of Administrator skills and levels of productivity

  • Ensures consistent, positive self-development of technical and leadership skills
