Public Relations Advisor IT and Technology

Shell’s integrated global Corporate Relations (CR) function brings together professional communicators, brand experts, government and community relations professionals and specialists in non-technical risk and social performance to work with commercial and technical colleagues and deliver company goals and our Powering Progress strategy. The CR team provides analysis and external perspectives, policy solutions and integrated advocacy, communications and content to strengthen Shell’s brand, reputation and global businesses.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong all-round communicator to work in a stimulating part of Shell. The individual will work primarily for the Information Technology (IT) and the technology innovation divisions of Shell and occasionally also works on broader communication projects of the Project and Technology organisation. The Projects & Technology (P&T) organisation manages the delivery of our major projects and drives the innovation that leads to new technology.

Where you fit in:

This role is based in Krakow, Poland where a growing communications community provides Shell’s global businesses with solutions in internal and external communications, creative content development and campaign planning and execution.

The successful candidate will join a small global team of communication professionals that supports the Information Technology (IT) and the Technology divisions of Shell. S/he will mainly focus on content creation to deliver effective engagement and dialogue externally and internally to showcase Shell’s winning capabilities in digitalization, digital innovation and technology commercialization. S/he will be integrated into the global communications team of the Projects & Technology organisation. This team provides strategic guidance and communications solutions to maximise the reputational value derived from the P&T business directorate to the company’s strategic priorities. The position formally reports to the CR Team Lead CIC in Krakow and informally to the CR Manager IT & Technology in The Hague, Netherlands.

The role

This role delivers tactical corporate relations solutions and effective content to support Shell's digitalization, IT and technology business activities (and occasionally some broader Projects & Technology topics) and strengthen Shell's ability to differentiate through its technological, innovative and digital advantage.

  • Provide corporate relations advice to the business for a selection of activities in the digitalization, IT and technology space to enhance Shell’s ability to differentiate through its technological leadership.

  • Create content for a range of stakeholders and audiences through commissioning and generating stories - crafted for different channels - including key messages and Q&As for the business, thematic narratives web content, press-releases and speeches. Provide input to briefings and official corporate reports, working closely with business focal points. Keep content fresh and maximizing Search Engine Optimization and tagging opportunities to ensure high value audience access.

  • Support planning and execution of integrated communication campaigns including social media implementation.

  • Monitor trends, risks, and opportunities in the external landscape and collaborate with the colleagues to find ways to bring more refined external perspectives, better stakeholders’ analysis and opportunities to build relationships.

  • Ensure strong measurement and data analysis of communications and content performance and implement improvements on a continuous basis.

  • Act as a global focal point to review a broad range of digitalization, IT and technology -related content to ensure proper disclosure is followed for technical and non-technical content. This will require close collaboration with the CR Manager IT & Technology and the CR Advisers of the different technical divisions in P&T.

  • Ensure alignment of external positioning across corporate relations and integrated delivery at global and country level, working closely with the wider corporate relations department.

What we need from you

  • Experienced as a communication professional in corporate or in agency

  • Excellent English written and verbal skills. An accomplished and confident writer.

  • Diploma or degree in communications, PR or journalism or Technical Writing certificate/diploma is an asset.

  • Ability to communicate and influence confidently in a simple manner, drawing on professional expertise, relevant data & evidence.

  • Proven experience in managing a complex network of internal stakeholders within the technical divisions, the businesses and functions to deliver optimal outcomes.

  • Strong experience in visual and written content to create innovative, human and compelling stories.

  • Analytical strength and an interest in measurement and ability to use data analysis in strategic, campaign and content decisions and for continuous improvement.

  • Integrative working style; ability to work in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and deliver challenging projects without formal control.

  • A learner mindset; being a role model in your levels of curiosity and reflection and encouraging people to learn from their mistakes and successes.

  • A genuine interest in the industry and a finger on the pulse of the world outside Shell.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Yammer, Stream) required. Video editing and animations creating skills are a plus.
