Your responsibilities


Shell Chemicals & Products will go through a major transformation in the coming decades to achieve net zero CO2 emissions. The plans have been developed to drastically reduce emissions in the short term and at the same time be able to make a profit. We will do that as Shell Energy and Chemicals Parks. The Shell Contracting & Procurement in Krakow is therefore looking for enthusiastic and capable candidates eager and ready to support from the procurement side the exciting journey of the Energy Transition for Energy and Chemicals Parks in North-West Europe.

This posting is for a Supply Chain Commercial Lead supporting the Chemicals and Products business at the Shell Energy & Chemicals Parks in North-West Europe. Within this business significant Capex investments are to be made within the upcoming years to achieve the Transformation agenda in term of CO2 Neutrality by latest 2050 and a 30% reduction on its CO2 emissions by 2030.

The Supply Chain (SC) Commercial Lead is viewed as a key commercial position to lead/ manage contracting and procurement activities to ensure that sites are optimizing non-hydrocarbon 3rd party spend, where appropriate across the North-West Europe (“NWE”) region (includes Sites in the Netherland and/or Germany).

This role offers the opportunity to drive change, both in the internal ways of working (high focus on increased end to end view and integration) as well as in the management of tactical/operational suppliers and contracts, ensuring we have or choose the right “partners for the future” who will support in structural value-generation while embracing the Chemicals & Products Transformation agenda (as outlined above). 

By joining this CP Ops team, you will be part of a dynamic, challenging and leading-edge Supply Chain Commercial Team.

Dimensions and challenges:

  • Projects:  small to medium complexity projects (value per project circa 1 – 20 mln EUR)

  • As a Supply Chain Commercial Lead, you are required to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including with global category teams and implement, where appropriate, Local and Enterprise Framework Agreements (EFA’s).

  • Drive good commercial outcomes by working effectively with the Category Lead, contract holder, other communities for projects related tenders and local and multi-site contracts including EFA's.

  • Working in a global, virtual team being flexible with hours and travel (moderate)

  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries and interface with varying levels of management.

  • Adapting to changing circumstances/priorities.

  • Ability to deliver high quality results with minimal supervision

Accountabilities:

  • Develop commercially competitive sourcing strategies and tactics that meet the business demand

  • Develop and own end-to-end sourcing and contracting process, which includes conduct tenders, evaluate bids and drive negotiations, develop and negotiate contracts (where relevant) and manage subsequent supplier performance, following internal governance principles.

  • Strong focus on project delivery on time, on budget and on quality through driving right conversations and proper alignment with project stakeholders

  • Manage supplier relationship including the resolution of operational and supplier performance issues (“claims”) relating to the contracts.

  • Lead the change management effort to implement new strategies and tools implemented at the site by engaging with relevant stakeholders

  • Improve both contract and supplier management

  • Drive continuous improvement with suppliers

  • Part of the virtual team. No direct reports. Based in Krakow

Our requirements


Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain or other relevant fields

  • 5+ experience in Contracting & Procurement or Supply Chain or Manufacturing / Construction Projects

  • Experience gained in an operating plant environment or having supported customers in a plant environment where most contracts are of high HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) risk category, experience in Manufacturing / Engineering / Construction is considered a plus

  • Experience in negotiation of contracts with various levels of complexity

  • Commercial mindset, delivery oriented

  • Proven track record of contract management experience and continuous improvement, as well as successful contracts negotiations delivery

  • Strong end to end process management thinking

  • Be an effective and clear communicator able to manage conflicts in a sensible, fair and efficient manner

  • Strong and proven interpersonal, influencing & stakeholder management skills

  • Able to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders across the business and influence without authority

  • Demonstrate ability to analyse, monitor, influence and manage progress and follow up as required

  • Be a creative thinker, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and challenging the status quo

  • Fluent in business English, ability to speak the local site language - Dutch or German will be an advantage
