Indirect Tax Accounting Analyst

Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization was established as one of the key elements of the new operating model for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all affiliates and business units. The FSS center for EMEA region is based in Krakow, Poland and is serving as a chief accounting and controllership function for all affiliates and manufacturing plants in the region, providing support in USGAAP accounting, tax and statutory compliance and reporting and in selected FP&A and order to cash processes.

We are currently looking for indirect tax analyst to our Tax Center of Excellence.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, review and e-filing of the federal/state income tax return, including preparing tax packages and identifying transactions that have tax ramifications.
  • Must have the ability to research complex tax issues, and be proficient in interpreting and applying the tax law, regulations, and cases to specific transactions and factual situations.
  • Prepare and review assigned portions of federal compliance work as directed by Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager.
  • Prepare the tax provision, analysis of tax accounts and reserves, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. This includes a working knowledge of ASC 740 tax accounting and other necessary FASB pronouncements, as well as internal control issues.
  • Calculate and review estimated payments and extension filings as directed by Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager.
  • Assist with responding to IRS/State audit information requests in behalf of AbbVie.
  • Process required payments and filings for federal non-income taxes.

Qualifications

  • University Degree with an accounting and/or tax orientation.
  • CPA and/or MST a plus, but not required
  • 2+ years related experience in the area of taxes.
  • Professional proficiency of English
  • Ability to deal with time constraints while effectively managing deadlines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and at stakeholders’ side
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Excel and SAP
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and drive for excellence
