K2 Portfolio Specialist
Based in Stamford, Connecticut, K2 was founded in 1994 and has become one of the leading fund of hedge funds managers in the world. K2 provides integrated hedge fund product solutions to hundreds of sophisticated institutional and high net worth investors across the globe, including corporations, large public and union pension funds, insurance companies, foundations, and endowments.
K2 is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, collaborative individual to join the team as a Portfolio Specialist. The individual in this position will work on a growing team of business analysts and operational leads and report into the Co-Head of institutional Portfolio Management.at K2. This role offers a broad opportunity to learn and work on every aspect of K2’s data, technology, client reporting, portfolio proposals, and portfolio construction. The role is a good fit for a candidate interested in building various skill sets.
Working with us, you will be responsible for:
The Specialist role supports the team in 3 key areas:
- Preparation of prospective and existing client proposals
- Assisting Portfolio Managers with data collection and analysis
- Gathering manager commentary and analysis for client reviews
Each of these areas requires attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
A Specialist is responsible for the management of data which is critical to the portfolio management process on a regular basis using tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, Alternative Soft, Vidrio and web-based systems. This requires coordinating with other teams to ensure accurate and timely data and an understanding of how data flows through the firm.
More detailed responsibilities include:
- Assist in the design and monitoring of hedge fund portfolios and liquid alternative portfolios
- Respond to internal queries on portfolios and reports
- Developing and updating presentations reviewing portfolios and investment programs
- Assist in aggregating relevant data and producing materials for periodic investment committee meetings
- Analyze investment options from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective
- Aid Portfolio Managers/Client Service in preparation for meetings with prospective and current clients
We are looking for candidates who:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of financial markets, portfolio construction and risk
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting or Economics
- Interest in CFA and CAIA designation
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage projects.
- Outgoing personality and ability to interact and partner across different functions of an organization.
- Self-motivated, creative thinker with ability to manage own time and work independently with little guidance
- Flexible approach towards office / hybrid work arrangement (3 days minimum in-office)
