We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Advisor Compliance and Control to join our Risk&Compliance team. This role is located in Wrocław/Poland - HYBRID.

BNYM’s global Financial Crimes Compliance Group is responsible for the Firm wide AntiMoney Laundering (AML)/Know Your Customer (KYC)/Customer Due diligence (CDD) and Economics Sanctions Compliance (collectively “FCC”) Program. The team provides oversight of the day-to-day and strategic implementation of the Firm’s enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. This includes providing the appropriate governance, oversight and execution of the Firm’s FCC programs. Part of the responsibility includes providing expertise, guidance, and support/challenge specific to Treasury Services (TS) and Global Client Management (GCM) lines of business in the EMEA region FCC policies and requirements, including the various dedicated KYC utilities that assist the businesses in implementing FCC requirements globally. 

The role holder will be a Senior Advisor Compliance Control, whereby FCC advisory responsibilities will cover all relevant business activities in EMEA, and being part of a global team that provides FCC Compliance Advisory to businesses’ applicable obligations globally. 

This role includes the application of FCC regulatory knowledge and industry experience to continually enhance and sustain a robust set of FCC requirements and provision of advice on an ongoing basis. A focus is on country strategy, on-boardings, as well as existing high-risk customers compliance support. The candidate works effectively with multiple international stakeholders within 

the institution to enhance their understanding of compliance and overall financial crimes compliance risks, 

as well as the risk management and implementation of mitigating control as SME around FCC Compliance (including EMEA regulations and USA PATRIOT Act/Bank Secrecy Act)

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Support and challenge Treasury Services EMEA and Global Client Management EMEA to enhance their understanding of financial crimes compliance well as the risk management and implementation of mitigating controls. 
  • Strongly cooperate with the business when it comes to accepting new customer groups, entering higher risk businesses or assessing new market strategies. 
  • Conduct targeted conversations with the business and navigate compliance-to-compliance discussions with correspondent banking relationships, the onboarding of bank and non-bank Financial Institutions, customers with substantial negative news and other unique risk factors. 
  • Review and assess risk events and assist the businesses when brining high risk prospects or customers to the relevant business risk committees. 
  • Working with multiple stakeholders within the institution to enhance their understanding of Financial Crime Compliance and related risks, specifically related to Correspondent Banking relationships.
  • Coordination with FFC colleagues in ensuring the Customer Risk Rating methodology and controls are adhered to. 
  • Contribute to developing and providing regular training to BNY Mellon businesses, operations  and other stakeholders on key FCC topics and assisting the global businesses in developing regular communication on key compliance topics.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Knowledge and familiarity with applicable policies and business procedures, but also with EMEA AML regulation, U.S. Laws/Regulations including for Banks and NBFIs. Ability to provide Financial Crimes Compliance training to businesses covered. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required or, professional certification preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of total work experience preferred. Financial Services, Audit or Compliance background and/or experience with financial services compliance and/or experience with Correspondent Banking/Payments and assigned products, services or business lines/areas and the pertaining laws, regulations and rules of relevant regulators preferred.
