Senior VAT Tech Specialist

Currently we are looking for Senior VAT Technology Specialist to join our VAT Team in Gdansk. Our VAT team is a part of Group Tax department and you will be reporting to Head of Indirect Taxes based in Denmark. The VAT team is responsible for VAT within the Hempel Group. As the team is new, you have the opportunity to help building a strong team, based on the mindset of our founder J.C Hempel; “The company’s greatest asset is its people”.
The Senior VAT Technology Specialist position will be part of the indirect tax technology transformation with focus on being the link between our ERP systems, technical solutions and the indirect tax team ensuring high quality in all chosen solutions. Your technology skills, experience and VAT knowledge will contribute to the department growth and our business development.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of Tax Engine in 50+ countries
- Implementation of Indirect Tax Compliance Tool across group entities
- Ensuring fulfilment of e-invoicing and digital reporting requirements
- Assist in refining indirect tax processes and current control environment
- Assist in forming the future Indirect Tax Tech roadmap
- Assist in optimising master data used during VAT processes
- Technical support in various projects across departments and entities
- Support in solving, improving, standardising and automation of Indirect Tax processes
- Maintain and build strong relationship with business, advisors, Tax Authorities and other stakeholders to ensure optimised and efficient cooperation
Qualifications and competences
- High education in Finance, Economy or relevant
- 4+ years of experience on the similar role
- Solid experience with global system implementations for indirect taxes
- Experience with implementation of either tax engines or compliance tools
- Have E2E mindset and understand how indirect taxes are embedded in ERP and in business processes in general
- Have knowledge of VAT legislation within EU and/or globally
- Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
- Have strong analytic skills and detail-orientated attitude
- Have an organized, independent and proactive approach
- Is a good team player, dedicated, service-minded and goal-orientated
