What is a Supervisor - Security Settlements responsible for?
As a Global Trade Services Supervisor, you will have a chance to oversee a group of professionals, focused on settlements processes. You will supervise the daily activities of the team, as well as participate in projects and department initiatives. Your task will be to fulfil the needs of your internal and external clients ensuring it is performed with excellent quality and in a timely manner. You will also assist your superiors to develop as well as execute strategic and operational plans for the team.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Supervisor - Security Settlements?
Supervising team activities and monitoring process:
- Supervising daily responsibilities and ongoing initiatives of the Fails Management team
- Liaising with Brokers, Custodians and FT departments to ensure proper and uninterrupted workflow of trades
- Challenging the process, identifying possible efficiencies and taking responsibility for successful implementation
- Providing ongoing feedback to support staff development and performance
- Representing the department in cross-department projects as subject matter expert
- Demonstrating the awareness of operational risks, implementing the key controls, including the enforcement of departmental policies/procedures
Focusing on team management activities:
- Setting team’s priorities and strategic goals
- Identifying, coaching and developing talent
- Engaging in performance management activities
- Participating in recruitment process, as required.
Leading projects and initiatives:
- Ensuring implementation of new processes and workflows
- Monitoring market changes and taking a proactive approach on the impacts to the organization
- Leading efforts related to maintaining and developing roadmaps for settlements functions
- Working towards increasing STP rates and decreasing risk scores
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
- At least 2 years’ experience in securities industry
- At least 1-year experience in people management
- Very good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong time management and prioritization skills (sense of urgency & follow up skills)
- Knowledge of fixed income and equity products
- Understanding of settlements process
- Superior problem solving and analytical skills
- The ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Possess a high attention to detail, is organized, and work independently
