
Indirect Tax Associate

Your team
IG’s tax function is based in London and reports directly to the CFO, consisting of the Group Head of Tax, along with 7 other tax professionals within Corporate, Operational, Employment and Indirect taxes. This role sits within the Indirect Tax team and will report to the Senior Indirect Tax Manager.
Your role in the Team's Success
In recent years, as a consequence of changes in business structure both related and unrelated to Brexit, the indirect tax risks borne by the IG group have become more complex, and more diverse geographically. The indirect tax team is currently undergoing an exciting period of change with the aim of increasing process efficiency to support the company’s growth agenda.
What you'll do
- Assist in further improvements to existing processes as well as manage the automation of key processes and indirect tax returns around the world, including ongoing implementation of third party software.
- Assist with continuing the automation of the UK VAT return processes to ensure compliance with the UK’s “Making Tax digital” requirements.
- Manage IG companies in the UK and elsewhere with meeting their Indirect Tax Compliance obligations, including assistance with the VAT return preparation for the UK group and other European entities, including Poland.
- Develop, manage, document and maintain Indirect Tax compliance procedures.
- Assist Finance teams with accounting aspects of Indirect Tax, including provisioning and budgeting.
- Be a key contact point for Finance and the IG business more widely for support and advice in respect of Indirect Tax matters.
- Provide assistance in dealing with Indirect Tax issues relevant to business projects and developments, and dealing with tax authorities and advisors in all relevant countries.
- Monitor Indirect Tax legislative and policy changes, and identify and manage relevant risks and opportunities.
What you'll need for this role
- A minimum of three years’ experience in indirect tax, either in industry (financial services preferred) or advisory.
- Good accounting knowledge and a strong eye for detail is key.
- An interest, or experience in process improvement and use of data analysis tools such as PowerBI would be very useful.
- Strong analytical skills, with a natural curiosity and confidence to question and dig deeper if information does not make sense.
- Good ability to form relationships and network with key contacts within the business and externally.
- Adaptable and enjoys a dynamic, rapidly changing working environment.
- High levels of collaboration to aid in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
