GENERAL POSITION DEFINITION:
The Reporting Planning & Appraisal (PAR) Business Interface manager role leads a Business Planning & Appraisal team within Shell finance operations with individual responsibility for reporting for the Integrated Gas lines of business. The team provides finance Planning, Appraisal and Reporting capability to Integrated Gas Lines of Business, including New Energies, Business Development, IG Ventures and IG Corporate.
A key part of the role will be to manage and develop the interface with the New Energies Finance Leadership team and New Energies Controllers teams. It is a role that offers the opportunity to be intimately involved in developing the plans and ensuring performance of this significant growth area in Shell: namely the Solar, Wind, New Fuels and Alternative Energies segments. The LOB Interface Manager will be accountable for ensuring Finance Operations interfaces with the New Energies business and other respective Integrate Gas Lines of Business in a dynamic and changing environment of planned growth. Also within scope are the, currently smaller areas within FO, of IG Ventures, IG Business Development and IG Corporate.
PURPOSE:
Delivery of the Integrated Gas LOBs deliverables related to the reporting, planning and appraisal process, providing clear and articulate commentary to senior decision makers regarding the underlying business results.
The Reporting Planning & Appraisal manager will lead a small team who will be responsible for compiling the planning and performance appraisal submissions. Given that New Energies is in its infancy the incumbent will need to invest significant time in establishing core ways of working and processes that will be used in this are of the team. The role will include working with country and operating unit reporting leads to understand and challenge the results, provide a commentary or narrative to help senior level stakeholders understand the results and be the focal point for the Line of Business (LOB) reporting teams with respect to the in scope IG LOBs. He or she will be working closely with functional stakeholders to achieve this goal, needing to understand their issues, constructively challenge their inputs and together deliver high quality analysis.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Develop and own of Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting processes for the in scope IG LOBs
Ownership and the resolution of reporting issues providing steers to stakeholders on financial queries
Contribute to preparation of the annual LOB Business Plans and related assessments to together ensure sound submission including operational, economic and financial KPIs
Ensuring that performance is well analysed and explained in management information packs delivered on a regular basis (Delivery through team)
Provide deeply insightful analysis which incorporates external perspective - to support decision-making and drive the performance improvement agenda
Contribute to preparation of performance overviews and appraisals
Ad hoc analysis for leadership teams, including insights on financials/results, working capital analysis, price movement impact on cash/earnings, etc.
Develop productive relationships with key stakeholders, to deepen team's understanding of underlying issues within the line of business.
Ensure data confidentiality, integrity and accuracy for critical submissions to the Group / Investor Relations of Integrated Gas LOB results.
Develop strong ways of working with the Integrated Gas Business Performance reporting team who will take and consolidate the outputs of this team for Group purposes.

Champion and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Covers 4 Integrated Gas Lines of Business (IGN, IGB, IGC, IGV)
Team of approximately 10 FTEs in end-state
Requirements:
University degree in a finance related discipline with preference for a professional qualification and/or certification like CIMA, an MBA, etc.)
10+ years of relevant professional experience
Self-starter with a track record of performance and proven ability to deliver quality results under significant time pressure and to tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal & leadership skills with personal confidence to quickly build credibility, respect and rapport;
Excellent communication skills, clarity of thought and ability to translate complex raw data into simple, powerful and easy to communicate key messages & insights
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Able to work across organizational boundaries with a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization
Evidence of external focus and understanding of the energy industry, competitors, suppliers and markets is helpful
Ability to deliver through others
Motivates and coaches team of high performing individuals
PREFERRED:
Excellent IT skills (power point, excel, word, management information systems)
Experience with financial reporting, accounting advice and/or investor relations
