Job description:

This roles is within the Internal Communications Centre of Excellence, established to develop and execute Shell’s internal communications strategy on a global basis. The CoE supports the delivery of Shell’s business goals and priorities by ensuring consistency in strategy, systems, processes and tools across corporate, business and functional internal communications. The key objectives of the CoE are to: connect staff with strategy to ensure each employee understands their personal contribution to the company’s success; connect leaders with staff at all levels to strengthen employee engagement and motivation and drive a high performance culture; and connect the organization with the external world and customers.
 
The Internal Communications Programmes Adviser serves as a strategic business partner and builds collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders to support strategic internal communications programmes and campaigns as well as vital communications related to specific business or functional change projects across the company (e.g. Standard IT products and services roll outs) as assigned.
 
 
Dimensions:
• Delivers and supports defined cross-business communications programmes and communications related to change and engage projects, developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with IC colleagues
• Rigorously uses the internal communications planning process for complex change & engage projects and internal campaigns projects and understands and determines business needs, impact assessments, and know-feel-do objectives
• Delivers within a “consultancy” approach in the Internal Communications Centre of Excellence and uses fit-for-purpose resources from the relevant practice areas to execute plans and deliver internal communications strategy, products and services
• Pro-actively applies strategic measurement analysis of programmes
• Demonstrates good spend stewardship, using the principles of Demand Management. Courageously challenges non-compliance.
• Provides briefing materials to practice areas and ensures timely, fit-for-purpose delivery of products and services in a beginning to end manner.
• Delivers elements of projects through SBO colleagues as appropriate
• Conducts research and gathers and analyzes information and data (internal and external) for consideration in strategic planning process
• Implements ad hoc, quick turn-around communications activities
• Demonstrates an understanding of existing internal communications tools and channels (Intranet, SharePoint, Yammer, Video).

Requirements:

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate most of the following attributes:

 

  • Communications professional with experience in developing, managing and executing end-to-end strategic internal communications in support of Shell’s business objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit at an advanced level in the English language for a variety of internal audiences.

  • Deep Knowledge of change communications

  • Influencing skills and able to assimilate quickly in a project environment.

  • Able to prioritize projects and juggle multiple at the same time whilst keeping a clear overview.

  • Appreciation of and experience in working with HR/Organization Effectiveness/Learning.

  • Knowledge across the broader internal/external communications function to enable successful strategic counsel.

  • Able to secure the trust of senior leaders and contributing as a strategic business partner, counsellor and adviser, and/or experience in an agency or consultancy as an account director or client-relationship manager. (both need to have this)

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver successfully through others, influence without authority, build collaborative relationships focused on shared outcomes.

  • Proven capabilities to deliver under time pressures and shifting priorities.

  • Supporting experience in other disciplines or specialties of business consultancy, communications, marketing or public relations will be seen as an advantage.
