Job description:
Specialities is a Global Business within Global Commercial, managing Shell’s Supply, Logistics, Operations, Sales and Marketing of Bitumen and Sulphur.
The Engineering and Operations Excellence team (E&OE) is a global team of functional matter experts who support, enable and constructively challenge our regional P&L teams in the delivery of our growth aspirations. In order to do this we:
Own and develop of standards, processes and tools to help the regional teams to deliver the business goals.
Facilitate of the development/coaching, competence building and networking of global functional communities.
Support the implementation of standards and continuous improvement by spreading best practices, and identifying/developing and delivering specific business initiatives to reduce costs and/or improve service levels.
The Global Operations Excellence Manager within the Engineering and Operations Excellence team (E&OE) is expected to help drive costs down globally and promote a continuous improvement mindset in Operations. This is a senior role and the incumbent will take accountability for the development and delivery of a number of key strategic initiatives within Specialities and also focusing on contracting and service level advancements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the contract holder community and act as a coach and SME (Subject Matter Expert) to further the development and competence of all contract owners and holders. Develop a strong symbiotic relationship with CP (Contracting and Procurement), bring the tools CP has in place into constant practice in Specialities.
Conduct internal and external benchmarking in both Bitumen and Sulphur and develop and champion initiatives to give sites to 1st quartile performance.
Create, maintain and share cost performance KPI’s globally. Participate as an active member of regional cost reduction teams.
Optimize depot operation through best practice sharing, standardization and targeted capital improvements.
Develop and maintain accurate operational tariff costs for each region.
Managing initiatives and interfaces on a global basis.
Convincing the organization to execute through influence rather than direct authority.
Managing diverse stakeholders across a global geography.
Successfully meeting the needs of two distinct businesses [Sulphur & Bitumen] across regions with significant growth, footprint & improvement programs.
Requirements:
Degree in technical discipline or equivalent Engineering, Supply Chain, Shipping or CP professional.
Good working knowledge of Operations/Manufacturing, Logistics.
Commercial mindset with experience in developing business cases and stakeholder management.
Ability to think strategically and see the big picture.
Must be able to work independently and create bridges across functions. Keen eye for details yet able to distill the key messages in communications.
