Job description:

The purpose of this role is to provide the Treasury Dealing Team with timely, daily, consolidated updates per currency to ensure Shell receives the best deal on transactions in the Financial Markets. This process is business critical for effective market execution. A manual legacy process is currently operated, but it is expected that this will transition to a more-automated advanced approach using statistical modelling and best-in-class technology enablers.

The Specialist - Cash Management is responsible for following the daily cash forecasting process to ensure that Shell’s cash balances held on account, that is in the consolidated group-wide sweeping header accounts, remain within specified tolerances.

In this role 
You will be responsible for:

 

  • keeping cash balances within tolerances around the target cash balance for each currency set by the Head of Shell Treasury Analytics & Risk
  • the one-team working relationship with Treasury teams in London
  • focusing on Operational Excellence, error reduction and deep-dives into the root cause of forecast variance
  • Delivery of Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Creation, maintenance and improvement of training materials, deep dive reports, best practice capture and any other materials to drive operational excellence
  • Liaison with Treasury Front Office Dealers and Back Office; ensuring communication of available spend numbers, and to gain awareness of portfolio or other funding transactions that would impact the forecast
  • Liaison with Treasury STAR; ensuring communication of any issues relevant to the forecast, sharing of best practices, and collaborative development of forecast improvement initiatives
  • reporting Forecast Accuracy and other KPIs using SAS Visual Analytics or other reporting systems, and active contribution to continuous improvement and best practice sharing forums
  • strong business partnering and commercial curiosity to build and develop increasing business intimacy within the role
  • training and support, to upskill to use SAS Visual Analytics Reports, SAS Forecast Server and other technological enablers to deliver world class cash forecasting.
  • training and support, to upskill with a focus on using data to drive decision making, analytics and forecasting techniques
  • liaison with owners of OpCo forecasting to ensure that repeatable ‘events’ are entered as recurring events and that non-reoccurring events are entered as one off events to ensure forecast accuracy.

 Requirements:

  • attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality operationally critical work according to a specified schedule with an ‘Ops comes first’ attitude
  • numerically aware, and analytically curious
  • comfortable working in a changing environment, and willing to bring positive-challenge and relentless support to project initiatives. 
  • good team-working, stakeholder management skill and a ‘one-team’ mentality.
  • previous experience in forecasting, finance, analytics, a clear advantage although not essential
  • broad experience in transaction accounting processes (AP/AR/Data) and reconciliations, ideally in a large-scale operation, with exposure to reporting
  • a good level of general business awareness (motivated to learn about Shell)
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • good organizational skills with ability to deliver under tight deadlines
  • strong knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint and ERP knowledge (SAP preferred)
