Senior Compliance Manager with State Street Global Advisors, AVP
Location: Kraków

Why this role is important to us

To take responsibility for the day-to-day Compliance activities of SSGA’s activities in Poland.

Job exists because of regulatory requirements, in particular in view of requirements formulated by the German and Polish regulator.

 

What you will be responsible for

State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) in Poland acts as provider of financial services, mainly asset management, within the wider global organization of SSGA. As such, the significance of SSGA Poland within the organization is continuously growing. SSGA Poland employs today over 75 employees and manages assets in an amount of [•] billion EUR.

The new Senior Compliance Manager SSGA Poland will maintain and further develop the Compliance Organization and will support the management of SSGA Poland, as well as the wider Compliance organization of SSGA in their responsibility to comply with laws, regulations and policies applicable to the activities of SSGA Poland.

As such, the Senior Compliance Manager SSGA Poland will perform an independent control function and form part of the Second Line of Defense.

In this role, the Senior Compliance Manager SSGA Poland will work closely together with the Compliance team members in other SSGA entities, as well as within the wider Compliance organization of State Street. The Senior Compliance Manager SSGA Poland will further closely cooperate with the SSGA Legal department, the Risk department, as well as the Internal Audit function. The Senior Compliance Manager SSGA Poland will be a reliable partner to business in advising on Compliance requirements, and will be responsible for the identification, implementation and control of regulatory requirements. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Management of the Compliance function for the entity;
  • Perform, lead or support, as necessary, regulatory engagement on SSGA Poland branch matters;
  • Maintain and further develop the Compliance organization of the entity;
  • To provide suitable and timely advice and guidance on Compliance matters, including regulatory and company policy issues to the management and to the business;
  • To perform compliance oversight over SSGA Poland branch, in particular to take and coordinate active efforts/steps regarding the implementation of (i) effective procedures to ensure the respective operations’ compliance with material legal provisions and standards and (ii) corresponding controls;
  • To identify material laws, regulations and standards representing compliance risks;
  • To identify and assess regulatory compliance risks (i) deriving from laws, regulations and standards being pre-set or assessed and identified as material and (ii) linked to the business activities and operations subject of the compliance oversight;
  • To define and implement risk responses mitigating the regulatory compliance risks identified;
  • To review and assess compliance breaches, to define remedial actions where applicable and to coordinate the implementation remedial actions;
  • To undertake regulatory returns to relevant regulators;
  • To support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer;
  • To develop, implement and administer local compliance policies and procedures and to provide appropriate and focused training to the business with regards to regulatory issues and such company policies and procedures;
  • To ensure adherence with the global Standard of Conduct and Code of Ethics;
  • To oversee the performance of outsourced compliance functions like Ethics in accordance with regulatory requirements;
  • To prepare and draft periodic and annual compliance reports to satisfy client, regulator, governing board and internal management requirements as required;
  • To support in local, regional and global projects;
  • To undertake other ad-hoc activities as required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience relevant work experience within Compliance or a related field, preferably in a regulated financial services institution;
  • A strong knowledge of the existing EU and local regulatory frameworks (amongst others, the Polish Trading in Financial Instruments Act) is essential as is a comprehensive understanding of the asset management industry, services and products;
  • Effective management, leadership and interpersonal skills are required;
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving are required;
  • Ability to interacting with knowledgeable and demanding audiences at all levels of management;
  • Flexibility, versatility and an ability to shepherd multiple concurrent priorities to completion without significant guidance;
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills and the ability to succinctly convey information to senior management are required;
  • Fluency in Polish and English language;
  • Ability to take ownership and initiative, to negotiate, influence and build consensus and successfully navigate within a demanding and international environment of a leading global financial institution.
  • Self-motivated and hands-on attitude;
  • Passionate about working in an international, fast-pace environment;
  • Practical approach to dealing with compliance matters;
  • Keen interest in regulatory developments;
  • Ability to discuss regulatory developments in an open, discursive manner.
