Your role
Are you an expert in models or their validation? Are you keen to apply your modelling knowhow to analyzing models as well as to driving projects whose aim is to define future processes and requirements? Do you like to interact with internal and external stakeholders?
We're looking for a Model Risk Control Validator & Project Coordinator to take on a multifaceted role, where you will:
• handle some of our team’s validation book of work. This includes analyzing models’ conceptual, mathematical and economical soundness; assessing their implementation by means of statistical and financial concepts, or appraising the ways in which models are used
• assume a leading role in upcoming model-validation related projects, such as: FINMA LPA and FINMA ICAAP assessments, IT automation, and simplification of current validation processes
• engage with internal and external stakeholders from risk methodology, finance, risk control, audit, and regulators
Your team
You will be working in the Model Risk Management & Control (MRMC) team in Zurich or Poland. We are a team of approximately 20 people, located in Zurich, London, Cracow and India, that is responsible for the independent validation of Finance models used within UBS. In particular, we validate models used for fair-value calculations (NAV, DCF, etc.) and business forecasting, and hedge-accounting models. We are also the MRMC interface for selected regulatory deliveries to our home regulator FINMA.
Your expertise
• MSc or PhD degree in a quantitative or finance field, such as: economics, econometrics, physics, mathematics, actuarial sciences or a related field (or relevant work experience)
• basic knowledge of finance models and financial valuation techniques, econometrics, financial markets and products
• prior experience and interest in the financial-services industry, preferably in risk management
• coding experience in R, Python, Matlab, VBA or similar. Prior use of Latex would be a plus
• enjoys interacting with stakeholders in different departments, delivery of holistic solutions
• prior experience in project coordination/management would be a plus
• excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
