Your responsibilities


Shell Trading & Supply has a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, LNG, chemicals, natural gas, electrical power, and CO2.

This particular role will be supporting the Trading and Supply Business. 

The FC Screening Team Lead is part of the Financial Crime Operations team within the Global Financial Crime team. The team undertakes Counterparty Screening – the checking of potentially adverse information relating to a counterparty that may impact our willingness to transact with them.

The Team Lead is responsible for the planning and organisation of the team’s work, enabling team members to execute their tasks efficiently and effectively while maintaining interfaces with key stakeholders and providing first-line of defense supervision and leadership for a team of 5-6 staff.

More specifically, your role will include:

  • Oversight of alert handling within the FC Screening team to ensure its members deliver their screening responsibilities in an efficient, effective way within agreed time frames and KPIs.
  • Undertake non-standard searches that are either complex, commercially sensitive, strictly confidential, or involve a new set of circumstances not previously encountered.
  • Liaise with the High-Risk Approval Forum (HRAF) and the High-Risk Counterparty Committee (HRCC) on the information of potential interest.
  • Communicate team performance and provide monthly screening KPI reports to management.
  • Provide day-to-day team management, pastoral care, goal setting, and performance reviews. Monitor and allocate daily workload, sharing alert work among available analysts.
  • Identify and implement process and performance improvements.

Our requirements


  • Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) & Know Your Customer (KYC) policies/processes.
  • Understanding of high-risk jurisdictions and their associated risks, global sanctions requirements, the risks of dealing with Politically Exposed Persons, and corporate and complex entity structures including SPVs, Trusts, and Funds, including identification of Ultimate Beneficial Owners.
  • Professional experience in a screening role in a Tier 1 Financial Institution (Wholesale, Commercial/Corporate, Investment Banking) and/or large Commodities or Trading House (Oil, Energy).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate and work effectively in a team as well as with stakeholders, taking into consideration customer needs and perspectives in day-to-day work.
