The Warsaw office was established in 2008 and comprises two business lines:

International Operations Centre (IOC) providing asset and fund services for a number of locations across Europe.

Custody & clearing services offering broker-dealers, global custodians and investment banks a full clearing, settlement and custody solution in Poland and other markets.

Private Capital is part of Global Alternatives domain of BNP Paribas providing service to unique clients. Private Capital industry is going mainstream worldwide and as part of development of this service in Warsaw, BNP is building Private Capital Hub to service our global clients. Responsibilities:

  • Provide active leadership within Private Capital Warsaw team with special focus on Fund Accounting
  • The role requires high levels of co-ordination both locally and with other Private Capital Client Delivery teams in Private Capital service centers such as Luxembourg, Channel Islands, France, and other locations as they develop
  • Communicate and actively support Private Capital strategy, plans and objectives to the department and beyond with high focus on growing Private Capital book of business including debt, mezzanine, fund of funds, infrastructure, real estate and a broad range of other asset classes
  • Lead by example from front, inspire staff, and foster cooperative and positive culture ensuring that all employees work as a single team with their peers across domains, business lines and locations. Continuously maintain and improve team spirit. Ensure support to other departments when necessary. Be a “go to” person for complex/technical subjects for your teams
  • Ensure that all the management reporting, key performance indicators, key risk indicators, business continuity plans and all other reports are updated and distributed on regular basis. Service reviews meetings organized and held with spokes locations
  • Ensure monthly staff meetings, regular feedback sessions to staff, twice-yearly appraisals, and incident review meetings, succession planning and career development
  • Secure and evolve necessary controls and procedures so that operational risk is mitigated
  • Support the Robotics and Business Solutions Unit projects
  • Lead service review meetings with clients
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for the spoken legacy location or/and clients and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on managerial path in Private Capital/Alternatives (Private Capital domain knowledge/experience is a must)
  • At least 3 years of management experience in an Operations environment
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA/CA or equivalent) or experience in a similar role/audit practice required
  • Extensive practical experience of Alternative Fund Structures (Private Equity, Debt, Infrastructure, Real Estate etc.)
  • Proper and effective accounting skills and good understanding of financial reporting standards (IFRS/UK/US and other GAAP), valuation and accounting disclosure for complex financial instruments
  • A thorough, detailed knowledge of various private equity structures (particularly GP/LP feeder Funds) and the administration and accounting for these structures
  • Knowledge of valuation of complex financial instruments and understanding of economics behind such transactions
  • A thorough knowledge of a key industry platform for Accounting and Administration (eFront FIA and/or Investran) and how to utilize the platform to optimize processes and deliver client requirements in a risk managed way
  • Knowledge of industry recommended standards (e.g. IPEV, BVCA, ILPA). Interest in developing standards
  • Fluent English is a must, Polish and French skills are helpful but not essential
