
Client Technology - Engineering - AI Lead Engineer
The opportunity
Leads the delivery of solution or infrastructure development services for a large or very complex AI/ML project, using strong technical capabilities and outstanding hands-on experience. Takes accountability for the design, development, delivery and maintenance of solutions or infrastructure, driving compliance with and contributing to the development of relevant standards. Fully understands business and user requirements and ensures design specifications meet the requirements from a business and technical perspective. Owns the integration of AI/ML components into the larger solution, focusing on high user impact.
Your key responsibilities
- Solves complex and escalated aspects of a project, performing coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting
- Provides advanced technical expertise to maximize efficiency, reliability and value from current solutions and emerging technologies
- Develops strong working relationships across Development, Engineering and Architecture teams
- Provides leadership ensuring expectations, structures and tools are in place to deliver the project
- Drives consistency to processes, procedures, standards and technical design
Skills and attributes for success
- Advanced technical proficiency in designing, developing, and debugging production-grade AI/ML solutions
- Advanced knowledge of Python, C#, or R
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- More than 10 years applied experience
- Up-to-date in latest AI/ML Engineering, Generative AI, Agentic platforms and MLOps
- Strong understanding of LLMs and advanced prompt engineering
- Significant experience in AI/ML engineering roles
- Experience delivering AI engineering solutions and handling user requirements
- CI/CD delivery using GitHub or ADO
- Proficiency in fine‑tuning language models
- Experience developing production-grade RAG systems
- Knowledge of embedding models and NLP similarity/search systems
- Familiarity with designing agentic systems
- Ability to design evaluation frameworks including A/B testing and benchmarking
Ideally, you’ll also
- Microsoft/Google/AWS certificates
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience delivering using modern methodologies
