About Compliance Analytics & Tooling team
The Analytics & Tooling (A&T) team is a crucial part of the Compliance & Ethics (C&E) department, focusing on driving compliance through data-driven decision making complemented with IT capabilities.
The Role:
The Analytics and Tooling of Compliance & Ethics team is seeking a Model Owner experienced in models related to anti-financial crime solutions. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure effective model management.
The Model Owner will play a meaningful role in managing model risk, maintaining compliance and ensuring the effective operation of models within the organization.
The responsibilities include:
- Model Development and Implementation:
- Identify and communicate new models and modifications to existing models as per the policy, including participation in annual attestations.
- Define significant changes to the model and adhere to the standard change management process.
- Supervise the development and implementation of models to ensure compliance with established requirements and standards, including the Model Risk Management Policy.
- Coordinate the utilization of models, which includes communicating issues to model users.
- Model Monitoring and Maintenance:
Monitor the ongoing performance of the model and build and update the ongoing monitoring plan. - Provide necessary information for model validation activities to ensure that models in use have undergone appropriate validation and approval processes.
- Address issues and problems identified through validation and other forms of oversight and take corrective actions.
- Develop a contingency plan in case the model fails to function accurately, is deemed unsatisfactory, or is no longer supported by the vendor.
- Model Validation and Documentation:
- Collaborate with Euroclear’s model validation team to validate financial crime models, producing and maintaining all associated documents such as methodologies, validation plans, and reports.
- Conduct detailed model validation, including reviewing governance, challenging design and development processes, testing data inputs and processes, verifying model logic, assessing user access controls and critical metrics, and evaluating model performance through sensitivity testing, stress testing, and model tuning.
- Subject Matter Expertise and Regulatory Compliance:
Provide financial crime expertise and input to the model validation process, testing, and reviews. - Act as the point of contact and subject matter expert on model requirements to support the overall governance framework of compliance & ethics, ensuring that compliance risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively.
- Analyze and discuss monitoring and other Management Information reports to support decision-making regarding financial crime model performance across Euroclear.
- Inventory Management and Culture of Validation:
- Maintain an inventory and validation schedule for all financial crime models.
- Foster a culture of robust and sound model validation across all lines of defense.
- Innovative Solutions and Global Collaboration:
- Support the development of clear, innovative, and practical solutions to address identified model deficiencies.
- Collaborate with teams across all of Euroclear’s entities globally.
Your profile:
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience working in a financial crime prevention role within the industry, a consulting firm, or a combination of both. Additionally, at least 5 years of experience in developing and/or validating financial crime models, such as customer risk assessments, automated transaction monitoring, and various fraud models.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of industry-wide model risk management and trends, along with functional knowledge of the UK and European financial crime regulatory environment. Understanding of the global regulatory environment is an advantage.
- Regulatory Awareness: Awareness of key regulatory model risk management principles and a clear comprehension of the strategic implications of financial crime regulation.
- Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: AML policy, transaction monitoring, CRA, SARs, sanctions policy, and/or operations. Practical experience using SQL/Python or similar statistical coding software to build and test prediction models. Proficiency in handling very large data sets and comfortable interfacing with model developers/vendors.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner. Sound technical knowledge of financial services businesses and products.
- Critical Thinking: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized and structured, with the ability to implement new and improve existing policies, processes, and controls to meet changing regulatory improvements.
- Relationship Building: Skilled at building relationships with colleagues across the business, supporting them, and promoting a collaborative culture. Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
- Leadership: Experience in leading teams, managing projects, and working with others to deliver financial crime engagements.
- Academic Background: Strong academic background, ideally to a degree level or equivalent.
